I think the issues in Requiem are either netcoding issues or hardware issues. It seems that after some time like maybe a year the character data builds up and the servers can no longer keep up with the amount of data. It could be that they are using 5 year old servers, or it could be that the engine was never designed for the long term like Ragnarok Online when you bump the drop rates for 500x.

RO2 will be bad as long as Requiem Online is having lag issues. Since RO2 is the same engine as Requiem, it will experience the same issues Requiem has in regards to server load and crashing. Right now Requiem servers have trouble holding 500 people simultaneously. When it comes to games a playable game with no content is always better then an unplayable one. RO2 can be the most genious design ever, but if no one can play it--its garbage.

It's the same engine that Rift and Warhammer Online use, and they didn't have any problems handling much greater numbers than 500 people.

When RO2 goes live,
is that when RO1 is going to go away? Or is RO1 always gonna stay?
