Btw if I turn my Warlock/AB weapons into Empowered versions, do I lose the current enchants on them?

As you also lose the +7 on a level 4 weapon. It must be +7 if you want to empower it.

Just tried it. You can't enchant Empowered weapons.

It's actually a level 3 weapon...typo on the description. When you upgrade it normally it says it's a level 3 :3

Normal version is level 3, empowered version is level 4.
