I have only little experience with Ragnarok Online, back when I had played "servers" with a friend. I haven't touched an MMORPG in a long while and I figured that it would be time to get into one so I chose to come here. However, I'm curious about the current condition of the game. It doesn't seem as entirely advertised as it used to be. I know that it went F2P with P2P advantages but how steep are they? Is the game slowly dying off or alive as anything?

The biggest annoyance for me is that the lack of warps for F2P players. I would recommend Priest just for Increase Agility, Teleport, and Warp Portal. Plus, people want them for parties/WoE. The early levels will be pretty boring though.
Monk is good too but they're a bit too gear-reliant for a new player.

Well, first off, welcome to the official version of Ragnarok Online. ^^;;;;
As for population, I'd say it's about the same as it's been for the past two years or so. I play on Ygg, which has a fairly small population, but I like it.

I once started playing the Indian official server which was later on shut down. Then I played private servers until I found out iRO was having a free server so here I am. IMO the best difference about a private server and iRO is that it contains more stuff to do, like quests, Events etc.
Usually the private servers I played never had any of that. I've loved this server and I'm here to stay, hope you enjoy iRO mate. Welcome

iRO has more stability and features designed for it thanks to the community.

RO is doing... well? I mean, when you consider the fact that it's a 9-year-old game that still manages to hold 1000+ players, I'd say it's doing well for itself.
Here's some things about the VIP versus the free accounts.
Just make sure you read up on everything, and you can feel free to ask me for help if you need any. Welcome to "real" RO! c:

iro is pretty much alive, but the glory days are over a long time ago.
were you a donator on your previous servers? if yes, then you will love it here.

a thing a lot of people coming from those servers point out "Here i learned how to play 'insert second class/trans char' rather than be 'insert trans/third class' of this style"
Also the security you will find your char years after (a friend came yesterday and found his char still there)
