Why isn't Warpportal joining the protest?
They could only the front page, since I'm pretty sure the forums will go in a rage if they black out all warpportal.

Actually if this piece of legislation passed it would have plenty to do with RO, Gravity could be liable for all the youtube videos uploaded on here or picture or anything else that is copy righted.
I wish they would stop taking chainsaws to fix problems that require a scalpel.
Good read if you have time: http://www.pcworld.c..._the_facts.html
For now nothing is going no where at the moment. The president is against it, Eric Cantor (House Majority Leader) has stopped all action in the House, and the Senate version is all but dead.

It's bad legislation and would set a bad precedent.

Even if it would be drastically cut back, it's something that is definitely a threat to WarpPortal. Youtube would be taking down RO videos, the "what music are you grinding to" thread would get us taken out for sure and my heavily infringing quests based on popular movie/tv properties would not be possible. We had to amend our terms of service with wording saying that it's ok to create fan art, videos and such for non-commercial purposes just so that the videos on youtube wouldn't get yanked.

But Oda, its not bad for the cronies who created it backed by the entertainment industry's monies (*cough* RIAA and MPAA).

Anything that raises awareness of this absurdly ham-fisted bill is good.
And of course the MPAA are whining on Twitter about the blackouts. That seems to be the extent of their adaptation to the internet age.

the empire strikes back?
Seriously, if the US Goverment will really do what they are planning to do, I wouldn't be suprised if anonymous and other people would massively attack the States and other companies.
I smell an internet revolution incoming, we better prepare to defend our beloved Ragnarok!
the end is coming 2012....

It's pretty bloody stupid...looked into it and the degree it goes to is ridiculous...for having a video of you singing a Michael Jackson song on your website, you can be fined and jailed for up to 5 years...more than the guy who killed him! Just because the people who lobbied for this (the Hollywood movie corporations) failed to see the internet for what it was. They are now trying to chase the internet bus down the information superhighway..and are failing miserably
