Telling the GM's what they should do is fairly retarded, its pretty obvious they will either stop WoE, or reset to what it was. I'd say, if you aren't happy with these constant DC's and lag, show it in another way, don't complain, or berate them on the forums, show it with your dollars. Going to buy Kafra Points this week? Don't. Was going to renew that VIP? Maybe think about it later.

That will have more effect that constantly complaining about downtime and incompetence.

you guys seem to believe its a simple matter to prevent a ddos attack. unfortunatly, even if you know there will be one, its quite difficult to reject the attack and maintain connection to the other people. the best they could've done is trace the last attack and reject connections from an IP or span of IPs (namely a whole region it came from). and even then, it would slow the hardware processing it all. leading to more lag in game and some disconnects anyway.anyone in the region would get denial of service and if the attacker is smart they will mask their IP or relay the signal through another region. so its difficult to predict.
once the attack starts though , the IT staff should be able to update what ips to reject and reboot the server. the process takes some time. either way, woe is screwed...
these attacks are probably keeping the IT team quite busy.

i still say we should grab our torches and pitchforks :/

btw, in the comp sci departments (or at least at the school i went to) we played a sorta hacker capture the flag game
each team would consist of a few people , some to attack the opposing server , and some to defend their own, it was quite fun
