So first of all, I was wondering...one can rebirth while holding a quest item that's got 0 weight, right? As long as it doesn't weigh anything, but isn't removeable from the inventory?
I also heard that it was possible to reset the seal quests using a reset stone. How would one go about doing that?
And finally, if, hypothetically, character X began the process to trans, but then changed his mind halfway through and decided to go straight to third class (or vice versa). Even though he's spoken to the NPCs, would he still be able to change his mind?

You only need 0 weight, not 0 items.

As long as you didn't transed, you should be able to change to third - but why the hell did you ever want this (except for babies)?

Items that are character-bound (e.g. the Eden hand-me-downs) or from the Kafra Shop (such as unboxed Reset Stones) have (or supposed to have) zero weight, so you can transcend with them in your inventory; I say supposed because there were issues earlier this year about some of the Eden consumables getting 1 weight all of a sudden (which have since been fixed, BTW.)

Seal quests can be reset by the Deviruchi NPC at Niffheim, at the cost of 1 reset stone.

As long as you haven't spoken to the Valkyrie in Valhalla (and thus change into a High Novice,) you can go try your luck at getting to 3rd job; though I probably won't be the first to say that you'll miss a lot when doing that (e.g., the HP/SP bonus of transcendents, for one.)

Thanks for the help. Can the seal quests be reset if you haven't finished all of them? Or do you have to go through an entire set before resetting?

I understand the thing about the HP/SP bonus, skills, and other perks! I'm just waffling on a few of my characters because there's 3rd classes I really want to try out, and I didn't enjoy grinding through the second stage, if that makes sense. I trans most of my chars, since it does make a huge difference, but I don't get a lot of time to play and there are some times where I just want to be gratuitous and self-indulgent )

Yes you can reset without finishing them all

The only checks are:
-Weight is 0.
-Nothing is equipped.
-Zeny is 0.

In addition to quest items, you can have 0 weight gear (like The Sign) in your inventory, and it won't care. This won't make much of a difference (The Sign is going to add a whole 2 damage to a novice), but it works.
