I was just trying out different names for my characters and I tried out a very common one and realized if the name already exists it freezes the client instead of a pop-up saying "name is already taken". I tested it a couple more times to make sure and it always freezes at the same spot.

Yup, it's a known issue. It's incredibly annoying.
