Hey. So, I used to play Dragonica a couple of years ago, and I made a Harlequin because from what I understood at the time, it was the best class to go for if you wanted PvE greatness. Now, I've forgotten that old account, and started fresh. There are two new classes that I know nothing about in the Dragonkin tree, and I'm wondering what I should do. I just got my priest to lvl 40, which means I can make a new character starting at lvl 40 during this event. What I want to know, basically, is with the inclusion of F7, what is the best class for PvE, now? Am I still good going with a Harlequin (Bandit or Rogue or w/e now), or is there another class that excels at PvE now that would be a better choice? From what I've read, Warmages and Paladins seem to be pretty popular, and I've always been a big proponent of soloing. Not a fan of partying at all, lol (though I do realize it's necessary for F7).

Anyway, I guess to sum it up, what's the best class for being able to solo PvE as much as possible and most efficiently? Excluding Priest, obviously, lol, and is it a different class when it comes to F7?

Thanks!

It's really dependent on how you define things. In general, Paladins are great at pretty much everything and indeed can PvE very well. Harlequins are no longer as top tier at PvE as they used to be but they got some new additions recently which have brought them back to life somewhat. My personal opinion is that just about any class is "good" at PvE, but there are certain facets that you may want to consider. Speaking technically, Ninja is probably the all-around best PvE class in the game.

Speaking in terms of F7, some classes fare a lot better. Ninja is one of the best classes for F7 because of Wood Rush for slowing, and several stun skills, as well as multi-hit skills for the bombs that appear every several stages. Both Dragonkin classes are excellent for F7, and Paladin is pretty decent at it too. On the other hand, Harlequin does not have too many advantages in F7 when compared to others. But then you have a class like Grenadier which has absolutely zero "F7" skills because none stun or slow down enemies, and the long cooldowns can interfere in bomb-killing.

For a higher level player, they would define PvE as being able to accomplish the most things in PvE. Again this has to go to Ninja because of the Black Claw Nest dungeon for level 80. Ninjas are capable of the highest DPS through the use of the skill Throwing Dagger, when paired with a Paladin's Time Reverse aura that reduces cooldown. Due to this, Black Claw Nest is just about unbeatable unless you have at the very least one Ninja with a +20 weapon, but more than one is preferable. Because of this being the highest point in PvE at the moment, I would name Ninja as being the best at PvE, coupled with its prowess at F7.

For everything pre-Black Claw Nest, however, you can make just about any class work for you if you know how to play it properly, so you may want to base your decision on F7.

All right, very cool. Thanks for the information. I appreciate it!

Is there, by chance, a build or guide for a PvE-style Assassin floating around anywhere? I can't seem to find a viable one on these forums.

Thanks!

I can throw together a build for you. Know that I'm far from an expert on Ninja skills but I can give a general idea. First, I recommend reading Yurai's guide to get a sense of how the skills work, even though it's a PvP guide. Keep in mind there are minor changes such as the Lethal Attack buff that occurs after certain skills, raising your critical rate. And I am a little fuzzy on the other stuff such as Storm Stepping and the Agility buff, those you'll have to get someone more knowledgeable for.

Here's a general PvE build starting at 45 up until 80. Again, not an authority on the class at all.

Lv 45

Reasoning: The essential skills, such as Ambush and Violent Blow, should be maxed first so you can actually hit things. Dagger is a great skill in many ways. More importantly, Wood Rush, Rocket Punch, Violent Blow, and Hypnotizer are good stoppers/slowers in F7. For the bombs you should go with the skills that hit the most, particularly Ambush and Violent Blow.

Lv 55

Reasoning: Sky Penetration and Mist Vanish are your best Ninja Frenzy skills. It takes getting used to, switching in an out of the mode, but they are worthwhile skills to incorporate into your combos. I would recommend them as quick multi-hit skills for bombs too, if you're good at switching quickly.

Reasoning: Cross Blade can be pretty nice for bosses, as I know. As far as I know, it's the only somewhat useful Awakening skill.

Lv 80

Rounds everything off.
