Mage class? Do people for parties prefer the priests or the sorcs? Planning on starting the game as a total noob, but like either class. What's most wanted in parties?

Unfortunately it will not be as you're expecting. Any party can do just about fine with any class. Sorcerers are great at F6 mode which begins at 26, and pretty great at F7 mode later on, too. Priests are also a strong choice though I'm not too familiar with their F7 tactics. Overall it's dependent on playstyle as "classes needed" don't really exist in this game.
