Depends on what you want to do: Monk or Priest? And then which type of those classes you're going to do
Priest -> Full Support (Healer), ME/Adoramus (Demon/Undead killer) or a mix of both - I wonder if battle priests are still viable.. hah
And I know next to nothing about monks!

Acos have buffs, use em! Also if you come into some zeny try and buy a stunner. Its a great mace for leveling with. If your going for priest VIT/INT is gonna be your main focus. Monks can be pretty rounded. Moderate Str Vit Agi and Dex with no luck and Low Int

Training an aco can be one of the most painful things ever. When it comes to levelling in general, you always want to go for monsters 10-15 levels above yourself. Off the top of my head, I would recommend whacking rockers (level 15, but very high spawn) for a few hours. If your aco is going for FS priest, I would suggest going to Payon Cave 01 and heal-bombing the skeletons and zombies there once you're about level 12-15.

There is a very useful EXP scaler here made by Wiggles you can use for deciding where to level.

-----------------

If you're going for a full-support priest build, you are probably thinking of these stats (at level 99)

STR: 1
AGI: 1
INT: 99
VIT: 90
DEX: 1-40
LUK: 1

There are some basic build descriptions here: http://irowiki.org/wiki/Priest

Honestly, if your going Preist and want to eventually be an FS priest. It's so much easier just to go Battle Priest on your first go. Because your going to rebirth anyway. In which case, all your stats will reset. And it doesnt take long to 99. Not to mention that going battle priest doesnt mean you wont have buffs, you'll just be slightly less effiecent than an FS.

There isnt much of a point in trying to make an FS priest anymore. Since it's a sucker move to go from 2nd classs to 3rd class right away.

If you want to make an FS priest, just go Battle Aco > Battle Priest > Rebirth > High Novice > FS High aco > FS High Priest > FS Bishop.

In fact, thats how I really treat all regular 2-1 and 2-2 classes. With how fast it takes to 99 the first time around, whatever build you do plan on getting, just go the build that has the fastest leveling speed for the regular class first. Then you can go the build you want after you become a High Novice.

Battle priest is lots of fun but I find the low heals and limited SP pool a bit annoying, though Magni still does a good job of taking care of that. I think it really comes down to how you want to level because the turn ins are possibly the fastest way to level and priests are always in low supply as far as I can see. Priests already have a hard time at a turn in and a battle priests would have a disastrous time.

Of course, I'm not saying that turn ins are the only way to level. Battle priests are really great for soloing and they supply themselves. However, I find that battle priests are quite gear dependant as well. They are fun though. xD

I suppose I might be somewhat Baised towards my own strategy because I have the money and gear to turn all the classes into a battle gear(including battle priest). Because My own battle priest went from 1 to 99 in 2 days no problem, then I made him FS high priest.

I think you could do a pretty good job with just an NPC bought stunner and high AGI, but ultimately, you would need higher-end gear to be able to level efficiently. That is a good strategy though. xD

Actually thats what I used. I have a +9 NPC bought Stunner that I had from the pre-renewal days. And yes, +9 from pre-renewal. All legit baby, and I only broke 7 stunners to do it.

Make sure you read the FS Priest Guide, that can help you with picking locations and deciding what skills to get. This is what I did but the Guide offers some alternative locations.

At level 10 take Eden Quests to kill things around Prontera (Rockers, Fabre/Lunatic, etc.). Once you can take the Spore/Worm Tail quests for Payon you're set for a bit, those will shoot your levels right up!

Go to Payon Caves 01 at around lvl 20 to Heal Bomb Skeletons (lvl27 with 612hp) and Zombies (lvl17 with 234hp, you can probably just bash them instead of wasting SP). Dodge the Familiars and Poporings for now (lvl24 with 427hp, and lvl30 with 524hp) although you probably COULD take on the bats you'll be wasting SP healing yourself instead of killing Skeletons.

Make sure you pick up Holy Light and do your Eden Equipment Quests.

Once you break into the early to mid-30s I recommend Comodo East Cave; that's where I am at the moment. Heal bombing Megalodons (lvl 46 with health 1335) is nice EXP but the real bonus is when you can get the Eden Quest for them. With Holy Light you can start killing Thara Frogs (usually getting two in before they get close then time the spell so you start casting just after they try to hit you, or just bash them) so pick up their quest.

The EXP gained from the hunting + the Quest EXP will have you gaining a base level and a nice chunk of the next one each time. The job EXP comes a bit slower but ease of killing gained from upping your INT means your Job will go up faster too.

Like I said, this is just my experience. Read the Guide for FS Priests and do Eden Quests, they help.

Holy light is utterly useless for an FS priest without the use of a Soul Link. Not even the Cookie card helps much for the dmg. Hell, Holy light is useless for ME preist too. Don't bother wasting the time and item hunting for Holy light. You're gonna get it when you rebirth anyway.

And if you are an FS priest, you really should be leveling with a partner instead of soloing the the entire way.

Which is why going Battle Priest or even ME priest would be easier the first time around. Since it actually gives you a real dmg output.

Well as I said it was just my experience and I'm not really qualified to debate about it.
Its easy enough to get the items for Holy Light if you hunt in the Payon Caves; the only thing I needed was the rosary and when you can sell Straws for 2k a piece after hunting Spores for an hour you'd have the extra zenny for a Rosary of all things. Holy Light may not be very good but its certainly helped me along so I mentioned it.

Holy Light's damage is really low but if you're decently equipped (namely with something that stops your skills being interrupted), it's a good skill that will eventually kill whatever it is you're trying to kill. For FS priests, levelling in Glast Heim is pretty much a definite must if you want to solo and the mimics there can't be heal bombed. Most support priests that I know don't get any DEX until they hit AB too, so hitting the mimics with their high flee would be impossible if you were just trying to whack it. Holy Light therefore does a good job of getting rid of them as long as your cast can't be interrupted either via a phen/Orleans gown or KE.

My two cents anyway. xD

Why would you try to fight a Mimic? Just teleport away... :p_swt:

It's not like there are very many of them on that map, and healbombing is more than enough to handle everything else in there.

I normally do that, but I'm sure there must be some times where you can't/don't want to just leave them.
