Hey so umm.. What is better for PvM Fire or Ice mage? I've heard ice mage because of status effects, but the cooldowns are so slow! Fire seems to work better as in damage but I cant stun then before they get close to me, so I get killed! I want to know from your experiences what is better Fire or Ice. Thanks and hf!

Back in the day it used to be Fire mages were PvM because of their AoE's. And Ice was PvP because they had the highest damage skills.
Not sure anymore as I deleted my 210 mage last year. I'd still go with fire mage for PvM though.

Either of the 2 fire or ice can be good in pvp and player vs monster you just need desent con gear.

I still hear that Fire Mages were superb when it comes to Player vs. Monsters (PvM) due to their high damage(?) and faster cooldown. So I strongly suggest the Fire Tree based on the information I've read.

Also, I think the Ice Skill Tree is more PvP orientated because of their debuffs. Movement speed debuff doesn't really matter when it comes to PvM, right? Same goes with debuffing!

...their higher damage(?): Correct me if I'm wrong here. I do not own a mage, but this is what I have heard  I apologize if I'm wrong though.

A max level mage should come in here. Because on my 210 mage I had quite a few left over skill points after maxing my "fire" side skills. Now that we can get to 215, and even 220 when Orlo Chap. 2 comes out, it might be possible to get both sides of the mage skills?
You may have to sacrifice some "less useful" skills, but you may be able to get both the mage fire and ice skills. Don't quote me on that though, there used to be a good guide on the old forums.

You can max both the Ice and Fire side of the skill tree at 215 ( or before) and even get the decloak and aural pierce too with 3 sp to spare. No reason to have to choose ^^, unless you want supportive tree buffs, then taking a fire mage is smarter because you will have Meteorite Flow and its dmg is better then Icy Hailstorm. With the possiblity of using all 4 wind aoes seperate I still think ice mages will do fine in pvm, even in ruins or prison, but mflow is nice :P Ice has the benefit of having a extra stunskill and a debuff, but these are more usefull in pvp and for bosses.

My mage is only 200 so im not an expert but i've gotten both fire & ice because I like to do both pvm & pvp although you don't really excel in both. If you want to be farming and pure pve i'd say you just go fire and then get supportive skills like bon so you won't even need a cleric!

Maybe a more experience mage can comment as i may be wrong http://forums.warppo...tyle_emoticons/default/happy.gif

Ice= pvp and a little pvm
fire= pvm and a little pvp

I prefer fire for PvM, because they have fast cooldowns and Meteor Flow. If you are soloing, then I suggest you to do not max out both trees, instead get the buffs from the support muse tree and some heals.

Pritty much since the dawn of iRose Ice was for PvP and Fire was PvE/M

Ice had higher dmg output at 1v1 and stuns.
Fire had lesser dmg but quicker cooldowns to spam AoE in mob areas.

I'm not 100% confident about after the last few updates whos better but im confident Fire is the way to go for PvE

I'm making a mage now. Will we have enough skills points for Ice and Fire with supportive buffs?

Yeah if you can buy IM. Go Fire to level to 215 and learn the supportive buffs. Buy IM skills, learn, and reset. Then get all the good ice and fire skills not the sucky ones. Then learn heal(s) and your choice of more attacks, ap buff, purify, blessed mind or a combination of those.

I'm sorry but you think wrong. The first job ones that you can normally use with a staff can be used on a mage. Obviously you can't learn the other ones because you can't even access the skills needed to learn them.

Buy IM skills, learn, and reset.

The IM buffs stay even after your support skills get resetted?
