Well, I jumped back on the iRO train (as I occasionally do) and my hunter is level 95.
I'm trying Eden Quests to get to 99, however I can't seem to find a good crowd control strategy for when mobs show up.
Specifically in the Rachel/Veins area on the way to Ice Cave. (Got an Eden equipment upgrade quest there)
I know where the cave is, but the path is full of hill wind mobs, and while I can take on one, maybe MAYBE two, once three or more show up I die quick.
My stat points are 90 Agi, 80 Dex, 30 Int, and 40 Luck. (based mostly on the PvM Balance here http://irowiki.org/wiki/Hunter )
And these are my skills = http://irowiki.org/~...skill4/hnt.html (not sure if I posted that right, I'll check after I post this topic)

My strategy against one monster is ankle snare, shoot with an arrow that it's weak against, and when needed double strafe.
When it's two, I try to ankle snare one, move away so it's off screen, ankle snare the other and attack that.
When it's three, I haven't found a good strategy yet.
Any advice appreciated about this. D:

If you're just passing through the map and don't have to fight the monsters to complete the quest, then don't fight them. Take a big stack of fly wings and healing items and wing until you are close to the exit you want, then run for it - potting as needed. If you have an alt account with a priest, KE should help as well.

Like Atha said, if you don't have to kill them, don't. I find hillwinds are one of the most annoying monsters in the whole RO world next to maybe red novus.

Ankle snare is ridiculously useful when you're trying to run away. If you don't have it already, Arrow Repel is also another great way to put some distance between you and the monster. If you get there first, you can repel the monster twice and hit it right off the screen so they stop chasing you entirely. This works better with slow monsters though and considering hillwinds walk quite quickly, I think ankle snare is a safer bet. If you really want to fight hillwinds, I would take them on one by one; ankle snare the monsters except one, then drag that one to an empty area before ankle snaring again and you can just shoot it to death.

Really not sure why no one has said this yet but LAND MINE FTW vs Hill WInds.

If you really want to fight them as well as make your way through then foget Ankle Snaring them and just blow them up with Land Mines.

Here is the basic Build pretty much every hunter should get. If you can't use the Link I will list
http://irowiki.org/~...kJfrHqodFaodxcL

ALL Archer Skills but for Arrow Shower MAXED (If you go job 50 then max that to).
Traps - Blast Mine, Land Mine, Claymore and Ankle
Those first then you can bother with your bird skills like Blitz and Steel
rest into Beast Bane perhaps.

Ever since Renewal hit fighting Hill Winds with bows is not the best idea sadly.

* - Oh yeah to give ppl a link to your skill build ounce you have saved it click the button on the top right that says "URL", this gives you a direct link others can use to actually see your build as opposed to just the link to the skill builder itself.

Oh yeah for Siroma's remember to use Blast Mine, this is a Wind based trap. The best way to use this on them is the following. Place the trap between you and the Siroma then shoot it and it will walk right into the trap. You can just use Normal Arrows on these guys as the trap should do all the work.

Freezing Trap is the most useless thing I have seen, It does almost no damage. Each of the 3 other elemental traps have the same damage formula that uses Dex right in the damage calculation along with Base lvl, Skill level and Int. Freezing only uses your Atk, but perhaps it makes up for it, with a 90% Freeze chance at max level.
