Character Backup

I think a great way to do this would be to provide a value-added service that allows one to download all your character's information in an encrypted format to your computer along with an official iRO certificate of authenticity (not sure what format this would take). When iRO's demise is upon us, all Gravity has to do is release a password to everyone who opted in, and they can retrieve their backed up characters.

I already have a jRO account but if iRO is going to die and I can pay to transfer my stuff over to Japan, i totally would.

I'm assuming chara info is in a msql database or some other common db format. One of the greatest things about iRO is that I can keep coming back and playing the same character I had 8 years ago. However, there will be a day when iRO dies. Is there any possibility that we can gaurantee the longevity of our characters now? Because I'm sure no concessions will be made at that time when iRO is almost gone.

The idea is bad though. It wouldn't be long before someone would break the encryption and modify their data before giving it to a new RO.
If and when iRO dies, we probably wont be able to merge with any others since we would probably be one of the last official ROs. Our beloved charas would go into the digital hell.

I don't think this will be the case, though I'm not at liberty to say why.if iRO dies there will be no server left where you'll be able to play. So no need for this.

That's true. Perhaps a community driven repository could also be enabled (something like github), and Gravity would upload all of the character data to this repository. When users want to access their characters, they would just sign in to a web interface. They wouldn't be able to change anything. Then when they want to apply for access to some server accepting transfers, they would just provide the link to their character data. So kind of like an enhanced ROPD.
EDIT: Plus, even if there was no server to play on, wouldn't it still be nice to know all of your work is still preserved? And for those of you who say it's all just 0's and 1's and it's not important... with that mindset, we are all just random configurations of atoms and life isn't important (not that ragnarok is as important as life... you know what I mean).

I would move back to bRO if I REALLY wanted to play officials.

Chances are if our RO went under, there might not be any others left to go to.

Does knowing jap let you +14 kvm gears pre renewal?I'm fortunate enough to speak and read japanese so I would totally love an emergency option to head over there.
