Kinda wondering why I have to use a safe to 7 cert and hd ori just to use the upgrader in eden but not 7+. Great scam though, used 3 safe to 7 certs and 25 hd ori to make a +8 fire fist into a +6 fire fist. Where is the incentive to even use this npc?

Should of spent your zeny on an entire set of elemental swordmaces or stunners. One of my biggest regrets in RO was buying elemental fists.
Don't ever try to +9 with less than 100 HDs or 50 Enriched. You can try with less...good luck.
Always stop upgrading at +7 if you're around 20 HDs/10 Enriched left. If you push your luck you end up with a +6 fist.

Yeah man ,100 HDs is really pushing your luck. And 25? Well that was just a failing venture to begin with.

To answer your question: There's a reason most new equipment has "bonuses" for upgrading to +7/+9/or higher: means more money for Gravity. For stuff like Fists, most people won't use the Mighty Hammer NPC. But when you invest big money in a RWH or a Hurricane Fury, you're going to want to make sure it makes it to +7 or +9 safely. That's where these NPCs, and more importantly, the cash shop bull-_- comes in.

So basically the incentive is getting those bonuses without breaking your item.

Ok so my next question is, When does it require me to usea safe to 7 cert? I noticed it didnt everytime but it did if I walked away from him if it was lower than 7 but if I was still in there and even at 5 it didnt ask me.

If it's not +7 or higher, you can use a safe to 7 cert. Once you start using HD/Enriched, you need to stop upgrading if you're starting to run out of ores. I've used enriched hammer and been stuck at +3 and 4 for at least 20 ores before it went back to +7. Then again, you have the option to not use any certs at all. I mean people did get decently high + gears, with kvm too, before certs were introduced.

what i mean is the certs are expensive and would rather just use the hd ori. And ive seen some times when it goes down to 5 it didnt ask for a cert.. My point is i do not want to use the certs..

Oh man, why would you waste safe to 7 certs on a fire fist?

Trust me - if you want to have decent gears in this game, you better prepare to spend a ton of money. Just getting a piece of equipment from +7 to +9 will cost you at least $15 (or less if you get lucky, but that never really happens, lmao).

Once you're at +7 or above, he won;t require you to use a cert if you fall below 7 if you're still in the process of upgrading with HD/Enriched ores. Once you stop (and are below 7 which you shouldn't ever be) then he will check again to see if you want to use a cert to bring it back to +7.

You should always:
1. Stack all your ore once you open them from kafra stacker. I didn;t know this and once was at +4 at the end of a stack of 5 enriched and it just stopped saying I had no more ores left (I had like 60 ores left).
2. Make sure you have enough zeny to upgrade. Upgrader will stop if you dont have enough zeny and if you're below +7 if/when this happens, too bad.
3. If you fall back to +7 and have less than 30 ores (lots of people have a higher buffer amount, this amount only is of enriched, not HD) then you better stop and stock up on more ores.

I'm pretty sure stacking doesn't matter. I'm always too lazy to do that after buying my ores and it's been fine. Maybe you just ran out of zeny to upgrade?

Also, OP, enriched ores are a lot cheaper than HD ores, so if Enriched Hammer is in, be sure to buy enriched.

Dont use certs on the Mighty hammer and use Enriched only.

The enriched guy is so much better. Got my +5 (hf)Elven bow to +9 with only 2 certs and 12 enriched.

If your using hd to go from +7 to +9 have 300 plus hd and make sure you have the zeny for the upgrades.

Ps. I would submitt a ticket and see if the Gms can undo your mistake. I have heard that they do this the first time dont quote me. Oh and you get better info on Irowiki some times.

That's because he only comes and goes when there's upgrading events. Like now until tuesday. It's a balancing thing so people cant infinitely get +9s easy, only on certain weeks/months

Ok I found him and was trying to upgrade my dress hat which is currently at +4. I bought a bunch of enriched elu and he wants a headgear cert and regular elu. So i went got regular elu. He also kept using the certs one after the other. Last time when i was upgrading a weapon it would only use one cert until i ran out of money or ore. So now im down 3 certs for headgears I have a surplus of elu, hd elu and enriched elu and im broke again.. this makes no sense. the game is not being consistent.

From now on I'll be buying my equipment already upgraded. The economy is so broke right now you can get +9 stuff for dirt cheap on Ymir...much cheaper than upgrading myself. I've done the math from my own experiences and it's much more cost/time/stress effective for me to buy them already upgraded. Thank you for all of your patience and RL money, upgraders. You all have made this game much more fun for me

Yeah the economy is a joke right now. Enriched hammer has basically been around for the last month, as has that damn mimic npc. Upgrading is so stupidly easy right now that it's completely devalued the market. Can we pleasure bring back some risk in upgrading? I'm getting so sick of Gravity -_-ting on the game's integrity for a couple bucks.

lol yea right. ive wasted about 40 mil in upgrades and all ive gotten was a +8 turned into a +4. and everything is expensive as hell.

The risk is possibly losing the all the zeny you spend on certs/elu. The risk is much higher now than it used to be, but in a different way. Sure you don't break 7 valk armors and end up with x2 +7s to sell, but armors are cheaper and certs are expensive. It's simply a different kind of economy, not a broken one.

They introduced the certificates and are pumping the economy full of them exactly because most people don't want to, nor have the funding, to break twenty Super Awesome Rare Expensive Item just to get to +7 and a hundred more of each to get to +9.
Its still expensive to upgrade with certificates, but the cost has shifted mostly to the upgrading process itself instead of blowing up tons of equips.

There will always be naysayers talking about it being "too easy now" and "back in my day", but for every one of these types you can easily find ten more that prefer how upgrading is done now.
Guess which group a company looking to make money is going to listen to.
