In the same vein as zr0reiu's thread, this thread will be an attempt to report inconsistent gear, and item effects when they're discovered.

As the other thread, be sure to list the gear or items' name, its in-game descrip, as well as how it actually behaves.

The OP will be updated with a brief summary of the issues mentioned, to keep the thread concise.

Basic additions: Jacket [1], Guard, Cotton Shirt; will add more as they're reported/confirmed. I'm guessing it's only armor and shields affected at this point.


Jacket [1] displays Renewal DEF value of 15, behaves as pre-Renewal value of 2.


Cotton Shirt displays Renewal DEF value of 10, behaves as pre-Renewal value of 1.


Guard displays Renewal DEF value of 20, behaves as pre-Renewal value of 3.

Pretty much all armors(chest, shoulder, foot, shield) give renewal descriptions.

Gemmed Sallet displays defense of 8. Actual defense is 4.

That's how it's looking.

I'll continue compiling what's mentioned, and see how long it holds true, though I'm not expecting for there to be an exception. So far only weapons seem to have 'honest' stats. I'll add the Gemmed Sallet.

Almost every equipment will have wrong DEF values because Classic.exe uses data.grf (renewal version) instead of cdata.grf

As far as I'm aware, the only items that possess red text are Kafra items (card/gear combos notwithstanding); most Kafra gear is only tradable while in their box, and become bound once opened. I, however, can't find any reference to that item being offered in the Kafra shop recently.

Doesn't really count as gear but the skill Spring Trap has the description that really belongs to the skill Detect.

pretty sure "monk hat" said it gave 10 def but when i put it on, it only gave 5 def.

not sure if its the right section but i tried upgrading a stilleto which is a lvl2 item and i'm getting asked for lvl3 ores... Any help on this?

Safety Ring gives 3def and 3mdef and not 5/5 as displayed

Morpheus's set is shown as battle manual x99 box.
Also Morrigan helm and a couple account-bound-upon-equip items are shown as "no icon" and right click on these items on a vending shop it crashes the client.

Evil marcher hat says it gives defense 10. But when you equip, 0 defense.

I already posted a thread about this,but for compilation's sake, i posted here
