I'm pretty sure you get a permaban if you even have a capital 'GM' then a space or _ on your name anyway.

Gm's can be invisible and their sprite has a VERY unique look that no char can simulate



in the PAST the reason it was so easy to spot a FAKE GM was that they popped in game to talk to us (and spawn mvps' on us) periodically
we just don't see that as often any more

^ #1 Way to spot a Real GM. Otherwise it's a fake in all other conditions.

I'd personally have to resist the "Can we talk over there where the others cannot see?... I'm afraid. I'm shy. :<" though.

But yeah, since they're usually hidden, the aforementioned announcement-type message is the easiest way to tell right off the bat.

Is that a new thing? I don't remember it happening before, when a genuine GM has PMed me. (it was mostly on old Sakray, with USRC and the old testing thing)

I used to be unsure about GMs, but not since I've talked to a couple.

It's been like that for as long as I can remember, if not since the start of RO. It makes the messages pretty hard to ignore. lol

The easiest way to tell is through what zr0rieu has described. Most GM/CM's do not show themselves in public when dealing with single person matters. So the easiest way to tell if it's a real GM/CM talking to you or not is by looking for a server announcement type of message popping up at the top of your screen.

Nooo you get banned from the back end with their tools, if you relog you stay there, only way out is for the GM to warp or summon you out. Went there on purpose since people were curious about GM Jail in an earlier topic.
