Development Notes the Summer Edition

Summer has officially started and for us that mean it is busy season, while for you that means what can you do to not get sun burnt while enjoying the outdoors right?

There is always something being worked on, which means there is a few things to talk about. With the increase the Development Studio the last few months we have been training and knocking off low hanging fruit while familiarizing the new team members to the project. This has given us room to increase the scope of our projects but also address bugs while not straying too far off from the projects at hand.

Our summer plans are pretty simple, strike early!
What we mean by that is that a few of our projects are completing early summer while some of our projects will be all summer long and others will crop up in patch notes throughout summer.

Game Arena
Being our platform for much of the future content launches for ROSE we are not yet totally done with getting migrated some of the older content. Along with the Cave of Ulverick we are working on 2 variations to the Halls of Oblivion which will most likely be the first week in July.

Here are the plans for PvM content and the Game Arena
  • Cave of Ulverick: Level 120-150
  • Halls of Oblivion (Variation 1): Level 140-170
  • Sea of Dawn: Level 160-190
  • Halls of Oblivion (Variation 2): Level 200-220
We are hitting this in stages with the Halls of Oblivion being our current project, and then updating a new dungeon soon thereafter.

Quests
Along with the summer events, and working on quests along side with the Game Arena updates we are making progress on the Hero Quest with the goals for the summer to have story through Luna and Eldeon before we start our seeing Back to School notices and the end summer.

We may work in some other events and other quests throughout summer, but the all depends on how progress with the Hero Quest goes.

Skill System
This really isn’t just a balance update, but a major update to class focus through skills and effects that skills have. We set out to balance not just skill power, but also add more skills for players to use at the end of their skill trees. Adding what we are shooting for is a more dynamic PvE environment and less of a I got a skill and I keep pressing F1 to cast it.

There is a lot that goes into the idea of “Balance” we are going to be adding value to the base stat values that are just missing or weak, we want to see players come up with builds that are functional and enjoyable but not the same build as every other person of that same class would be.

I am sure that this will be something we play and tweak with all summer even through the end of the year, but over the next 2-3 weeks we will be sharing more details about the skills and setting up testing on Pegasus.

Other Possible Summer Project
Depending on how our team picks up projects and get familiar with things you may see some of these things being worked on during the summer
  • PvP Rankings: In-game UI showing some rankings for PvP
  • Additional PvP Games/Maps
Priority of Active Bug Reports
  • Map Transition client crash
  • Status Effect duration
  • Vanishing of Active Status Effect Icons

Favorite part. I hope this happens. I hate that 90% of a class pretty much all have the same stat build for maximized killing, and if as of right now you try anything far from that typical stat build, you are more than likely to lose.

On a personal note. I am mostly excited for instances and hero quest. Seconded is the skill variations and stats by the end of a class build. Verry interested.

How about a nice combo system that allows different types of combo damages depending on the skills that follow certain other skills... this could even be made to improve parties by allowing certain skills to combo or even combine with another characters skill thus making a new skill per se that would inflict more damage and yet the combos oculd continue with increasing damage...

Of course.. this would really only work well with more skills to choose from.. thus different builds could have different results based on what skills certain skills are paired with...

Not sure if anything like this would be possible within the rose realm or not... of course anything is possible... but would it be worth the time to actually work on, develop and implement into the game... that is a completely different story...

Just a thought...

If they decide to add "more" skills, then it would be nice for a 1 more time free skill reset, at least then we'd be able to test out the Skills / report any bugs without have to depend on someone / a bunch of people using the IM skill reset or wait for them to reset there skills just to test em out :)

Nice and ty for posting the plans. It really helps people understand that you are all working on a lot of the things that we, the community, feel are important. Brining Luna back is a great idea too!! The dungeons are fun but another PVP map would be greatly appreciated, once you fix the GA bugs. I like some of Piggies ideas for PVP maps.

The sleep/stun glitch that is going on throughout the game and the buffs disappearing among other things. Those would be great to have fixed.
