I only recently finished leveling my CON crafter up to 215 and am now leveling another character and farming chemicals and gems etc. But I recently talked with a gem crafter who has 1109 CON and spoke of failing over and over on grade 7 gems in the past week regardless of the chemicals used. I have managed so far to get my CON up to about 1156 and am still working on a few pieces of gear to boost it more before I get back into making gems. Are others experiencing the high failure rate on grade 7 gems that I recently had reported?

difference between now and before is:

before, when you fail at 7, you used to lose only chems and hearts... was rare to fail at gems...

now, you still have almost same rate failure... but most of time, you fail at gems, so you lose everything...

I haven't really lvled my arti yet (still 15x) but when my clanmate was crafting me gems its still like b4 but its like much harder to tell when its gonna fail cause its either the bar is full (success) or the bar wont be full (fail) not like b4 that even if the bar won't reach till the end its still going to succeed

{edit} on topic : i can really say its easier to craft gems now rather than before. I remember when i use to fail at 3's often (not so much) and get some fails from 4-5-6-7 on chems, now all you need is 1k (or 1.1k above) and you will notice you will rarely fail

Sounds like it is worse now if you tend to lose the gem every time there is a failure. That's expensive. Before the update, I tried making 4 or 5 D7's and lost 2 in the process. That hurt. The person I talked to with CON 1109, the failure rate on grade 7 sounded like it was much greater than 50% which is crazy.

like soda said, its better now on low grade gems... i havent failed at 2,3 and 4 yet... used to lose a lot of materials going to 3, before the patch...

however... at 5, 6 and 7 my failure rate is 5-10% maybe... even with 1150 con... i wouldnt say 50%, maybe your friend have too low con (he is lvl 215 btw?)...

but i cant say much... because i dont craft a lot...

I experienced this on the Draconis Server - and it has kept me from leveling a con crafter on Leonis.

Making 1-4 has almost no fails and doesn't really matter your con or the chems used as long as you are a high level.
Making 5-7 still seems primarly based on level and con seems to help some, but not like before.

Before the update I had chem failures, but I think only 1 ever broke a gem going to 7.
The gem failure now seems to be random where as before there was a sweet spot on con and using higher grade chems seemed to ensure that I would not break a gem.

On leonis I have only crafted gems on my sen crafter with con gear - so about 850-900 con. I have made one 7 and failed one.

Since I have most sets already - i have almost resigned myself to not making the con crafter to 215 and just buying anything else I need. Still holding my mats until I decide or someone finds a safe way to craft.

No its still like before, you can still lose chems only/ chems and hearts. Even my clanmate failed 2 times going to d7 but it was only chem and heart fails. I really suggested getting the highest con u can get as possible imo.

so how often have you or your friends with high con failed and lost the gems going to 7?
I am ok losing chems and hearts - but I don't like the random gem failures going to 7 - it's to costly

I talked to another guy today who has CON 1164 IIRC and he said he has pretty good success. He didn't give any numbers or anything but gave the impression it was pretty good but very high CON must be a big help. I'm at 1154 but still need one piece of EQ that I have to get to replace a low level one and that should boost me up to 1166 or 1168. Remember, the Gem Crafting research gives Charm now so that might net 1 more point at the expense of a stat reset.

Actually from all of the gems that he crafted me all went to 7 with no fails except Diamond[7] like i said on the quote.
