anybody else having issues with monster size vs weapon issues... like for instance doing fine with a dagger on small and medium monsters but a bigfoot only takes 1 or 2 damage? wondering if this is a bug or its supposed to be this way

it has to do with the damage formula vs defense, you need higher atk to do more dmg to a bigfoot.

Yes, in Classic, your STR plays a huge role in the maximum amount of damage you deal. Def also plays a much larger role in PVM. For example, Horongs are much more difficult to kill because of the very high amount of def they have.
