"Cannot init d3d or grf file has problem."

I get this message when I try to launch the game with ClassicRO.exe, but not when I try to launch it with Ragnarok.exe. I fully patched Ragnarok.exe before running ClassicRO.exe which didn't have a patch for itself. Can't find anything about what to do and I'm stumped.

EDIT: Uninstalling and retrying seems to be my best option.. Really wanted to avoid it, but seems like I have to..

EDIT2: No luck, ran Ragnarok.exe patcher as administrator, then ran ClassicRO.exe (again, no patch) and same result as before.

EDIT3: Playing ClassicRO on the Renewal client results in being disconnected while creating character and then having no character made when you log back in with this error message:

CHARACTER_INFO size error!! character
num : 0 CHARACTER_INFO size : 116

After getting that one and not being able to use the first slot to make characters any more due to getting the error "Character Name already exists." no matter what name you use.. I tried the second slot.. Disconnected during creation again, next time I logged in the error had changed to:

CHARACTER_INFO size error!! character
num : 1 CHARACTER_INFO size : 116

EDIT4: Think its worth mentioning that my graphics card is a Radeon HD 5700 Series, my operating system is WIndows 7 64-bit and I updated to the latest drivers after getting the original error here as my first attempt at fixing this before I discovered that it was just the ClassicRO client and not RO itself.

EDIT5: Reinstalled from C:\Program Files (x86)\Gravity\Ragnarok Online to C:\Gravity\Ragnarok Online after finding a thread suggesting to avoid protected folders on Windows 7. Will post results.

EDIT6: Well I'm done for tonight.. Exact same problem over and over again no matter how many times I reinstall or where I install to..

Run Setup as an admin and make an appropriate selection for the first dropdown menu.

Wow, it was that simple, eh? I had assumed that since the Renewal client worked, the stuff in setup was fine and it was just the Classic client.

Thanks. :)
