Make sure that you don't have any arrows, daggers, or bullets equipped as well. I made the mistake of thinking those freebies had weight and spammed them -- it turns out I'd forgotten to remove a Poison Dagger.

Storage them or use them if you can't storage - no other way around this, waiting for them to fix = not gonna happen.
