Forging only has its use for low leveled n00bs.
But the material costs right now are ridiculous high.

+ The MVP summoner made
iron ore go from 150z to 15.000z
Flame heart go from 20k to 200k
Star Crumb go from 5k to 75k
etc
and it won't go down again, because people hope the summoner comes back.
Oridecon and Steel are too high priced nowadays, because people use them for woe 2 and upgrading.

So anyway, the costs should be lowered, maybe reduced by half.
Or just for these Weapons:
Haedonggum
Claymore
Two-handed axe
Stunner
Swordmace
Damascus
Fist
Lance

so aside from renewing the forging system by 100% (because it sucks), which will never happen anyway,
you could just lower the item cost so people can go on producing useless weapons and have more fun doing it.

Stunner also needs copious amounts of steel. Overall I like the suggestion (I believe it was even put forth with the old forums) but... just one thing I disagree with. The fist only takes 4 ori to forge anyway. Cmon, there is no way that should be reduced any further...

The forging system needs a complete overhaul. No one cares about elemental versions of NPCable weapons, especially since Renewal's focus is majorly on L4s. Even if those were still used, endows have replaced them, completely.

You get 3 slots of properties to grant to weapons, but your only choices are the "very strong" upgrade, and an element. Would it really be that hard to make a list of 20-25 properties you could grant a weapon, using that same 3 slot system to have you build? THAT would make forging actually matter.

Give the BS a new quest skill that breaks slotted weapons/armors into material to craft with. This will help with gathering mats and get rid of those slotted gear that people npc.

God, this. Even if it's like half the material required to forge the same wep (something that takes 20 steel to forge gives 10 steel when broken down), that would give people a reason not to just NPC all their otherwise worthless equip drops. I can see that being really helpful to newbies too, makes their ~*AWESOME SUPER RARE DROP*~ not a complete disappointment.

*New suggestion*

add more forgable weapons to each of the "Smith [weapon type]" category. Like the people said eariler, these current weapons that Blacksmiths can forge are outdated. These have been the same for the past... well, since second job class came out! (i.e., MANY YEARS AGO!!) It needs updating! Beef it up!


My suggestion is to implement new UNIQUE weapons that can only be obtained through Blacksmith's Smith skills--weapons that players may find worth getting. Those don't have to be stronger or better than the level 4 weapons, but they can have certain monster property change, stat, or status effects when doing physical damage. That is, similar to the forgable mace Stunner, but has more variety of effects within one weapon (with low chance of auto-casting effect or something).

An alternative suggestion is to simply allow more of the current in-game weapons (that range from be being decent to very good) to be forgable by Smith skills.
