I am curious about this, because I am a battle alch and I assume the pet is going to lower my exp if it fights with me, whats the point to having them? I mean Lif *could* be useful if she didn't have to eat crafted items to cast a heal, if she doesn't now i'll be surprized but she did when I played last.
Homun only eats job exp.
If you're on Classic, a homun is worth having because you can actually AFK level with it (I saw upwards of 1.2m exp/hr semi-afking with homun out, at 1x rates, back in the day)
If you're on Renewal, you should have a homun to afk level when you can, because the Homun S's get rather powerful, and you want to be ready to change your homun to homun S as soon as possible. Dieter for WoE, Sera for painkiller, etcetera.

Even with trans classes, you should still hit level 70 long before 99 as well.

Set it to be non-aggressive (AggroHP = 100 is the easiest way to do this), and it will only fight things you're fighting, prioritizing things you're attacking. I never got around to writing code to have it drop everything to attack what the owner was attacking.AHh cool, I use Azzy AI is there a way to make it only attack what I am attacking? or is this not possible? Because last I heard (and mind you this was a year ago so it may not be true now a days) you can't heal your homun at all you have to let it sit. Is this still true? My current homun is a filir. WHat Homun S does it become?
You have always been able to heal homun using Aid Potion.
You get to choose what homun S you want. What kind of homun you had doesn't matter.
