Split from AzzyAI 1.50 topic, because not related to AzzyAI
You shouldn't - it's supposed to be saved - but you might - there are various bugs with saving settings caused by the devs' lack of knowledge regarding UAC (which is truly inexcusable, Vista came out quite a while ago)
Are you running RO from inside program files? Are you running Win7/Vista/Win8 with UAC enabled?
If the answer to both of those questions is yes, you should move the RO folder to a location outside of program files (desktop is fine). This will also help prevent problems when upgrading or changing settings on the AI, and should also fix the /hoai not saving.
Other approaches for fixing /hoai saving would be running the setup program to choose /hoai state, or manually editing the config file in savedata.

In the savedata folder of your RO folder, open OptionInfo.lua with Notepad.
Find the line
change to
Check to make sure that that line isn't duplicated in the file - some people have reported multiple copies of a line for a given option, which will result in only the last line being used. There should only be one line starting with CmdOnOffList["/hoai"] =
