Hi. I decided to start playing again after a ten year hiatus. I was in the third grade last time I played.

No judgement, but I'm trying to play from Work during my spare time . . . I have a lot of it here.

Anyway, everytime I connect it says it can not connect to the server.

I've checked my firewalls and I've activated DEP. These were the only things I could find do to from looking around forums. Obviously, I'm not running it as an Admin since as I said, I'm running it from work, but the program still opens and I was able to install the game, so I don't see how that would matter. I just keep getting the "can not conenct tot he server" window every time I try.

Oh, and It's a Windows XP machine. That's fun.

I'm completely ignorant about what to do to fix this, help?

When do you get the failed to connect to server message?
I am assuming you mean right after entering username/password, but BEFORE selecting a server. If it happens AFTER selecting a sever, please let me know and disregard the rest of this post.

This sounds like a firewall problem - recheck windows firewall. Turn it off entirely for testing, to be certain that';s not the cause of the problem.

That's strange, could RO be blocked by a hardware firewall, since you say you're playing from work?

I'm not really sure how to recommend testing this, though, unless you can get your work computer onto another network - if it's a laptop with wifi, even if you can't take it out of the building, do you have a smartphone that can do wifi tethering? If so, connect to internet via tethering instead of corporate network and see if that works. If it does, the problem is a hardware firewall, and you're probably out of luck, since you likely can't do your job without the system being on the corporate network.
