So. I'll admit. I'm a newbie. There was a point where I could say I was a vet and knew much about Rune-Midguard, but that time has passed.

I haven't played in literally. . . I dunno . . . three / four years? Last time I played I was all about harvesting and selling Dokebi horns if that puts a date on how long it's been. My rogue use to be really effective, truly.

So I start playing again and of course I see that Dokebi Horns are pretty worthless now. I also heard that things have been revamped in Ragnarok and there have been a lot of changes. Most notably, that Rogues hardly use daggers now.

Perhaps it's the sites I'm going to, but all sites tell me that to be effective with my rogue, she needs to have a bow in her hand and her strength needs to be 0, not 64. Ba hahaha.

I'm not above using a reset stone to redo all of her stats, but I don't want to do it if the information I've gotten is false.

I'll just post her stats and equipment and that should give you a vague idea on how possibly corrupt she may be now.

You can do either actually.

Bow Rogues level mighty quick. With a Chick Hat (Eden Shop) or a Hybrid(Sidewinder Card) Arbalest/Gakk, you'll be rolling off damage like its second nature. Once you learn Intimidate (whatever the skill is that allows you to copy a single skill until hit with a new one) you can learn Raging Trifecta Blow from any Monk in PVP, which works EXCELLENT with bows. I mean, you don't need to buy several different Elemental Weapons, you just need to make several different elemental arrow quivers.

I see you're on Ymir, I could help you with any questions you may have beyond that.

Dagger Rogues/Stalkers/Shadow Chasers have some serious fun with Auto Shadow Spell.

You must be talking about Pre-Trans classes, because Rogues/Stalkers with bow builds were always far quicker with leveling than Dagger Rogues. This was more emphasized with the changes Renewal brought.

Absolutely. There was nothing beyond Rogue when I played.
Gosh. I sound like a 'Nam veteran, talking about things "back in my day" ha ha ha.

Anway. So it's agreed that my rogue may need a little bit of tweaking? I'm not much into PvP, which kind of defeats the purpose of a rogue :heh:

I finally got to transcending with my bow rogue and I'm now a high thief.

I had all the stats and equips for a bow rogue and now that I'm a thief again, I realize that the way the thief class is layed out, it doesn't really encourage using bows like Rogues and stalkers do.

Anyway, I know the obvious answer is to use a dagger until I get to Job 40 again, but then that dips into stats that I would want. (STR mostly) when I go back to using a bow. Are there ways around this or am I better off using a reset stone when I get to that point?

I'm fine with using resets, but I'd rather avoid it if I can. Mostly, I'm just worried that those initial 100 points you get after transcending don't transfer over when you use a reset. Is this known?

Dagger Rogues actually level faster if you make good use of Stone Fling.

You can still make due with a bow as a Thief. Sure, the best you can do is an Arba or Gakk, but you already have the gears set.

Up to you really.

Or you could get your hands on a nice dagger that gives plenty of weapon Atk until you become a Bow Stalker. Str doesn't play as big a role for increasing your damage per point of Str as it did in Pre-Renewal. You can still do decent damage with 1Str as a Thief if you have a dagger like a carded Gladius that has been over-upgraded. It's enough to get you to Stalker.

You do not lose anything by resetting; you end up with the right number of stat points to distribute.

Note that all players on renewal servers get 1 free stat+skill reset per char - however most people save this for when they reach third job, as most third jobs require significant build changes to be effective.

Absolutely. There was nothing beyond Rogue when I played.

Wrong, sir, wrong!

Dokebi horn turnins were added nearly three years AFTER the introduction of transcendent classes.
Those item turnin quests were introduced right after the 5th anniversary event (ticketlabs), while transcendent classes were introduced in the third year of iRO.
