First of all, let me start with why I love this game.

*The controls are really easy to use. Anyone who has played any RPG at all should be totally familiar with it.
*The game is very kind to casual players. This is excellent as gamers who have busy working lives (i.e. earn money...very important for the game) are able to de-stress and play in short bursts, while feeling that they are progressing. This is probably the most important factor for me personally.
*The mercenary system is BRILLIANT! You can hire generic characters or other players to help you. You can even hire your other characters for free. It just adds to how good the game is for casual players.
*The balance between quest experience and grinding is quite good, with quests leveling you up quickly early in game, and then some grinding required as you level up. I feel that the designers probably were aiming for something like Guild Wars, where the REAL action starts at level cap.
*In spite of some complaints, the presence of GMs in game is actually quite good. Most times, you just need to ask if a GM is on in Faction chat and you get a reply. Those who complain about lack of official presence are probably a bit unrealistic about expecting a GM to be on 24/7. Most of the technical problems are not solvable by the GMs, as they are in the code itself.
*The stat and skill trees are easy to understand in general terms with good descriptions of their impact on gameplay. Min/max players might not agree as they would want to know up to the last percentage what each point does. Branching the skill trees into two parts does make it easy for casual players to know what to expect of the build, while allowing the more adventurous to mix and match to their liking.
*All the events have been really good and inclusive of the entire player base. Even the rvr event was technically accessible by everyone, although it made the ridiculous differences between the two factions stand out like a sore thumb.

Some problems I find with the game and suggestions.
*The splitting of the player base into two factions could work...provided the player base was split fairly evenly by levels reached. However, as proven by Europe's version (where SGs dominate) and here (where TKs dominate), it could quickly snowball and alienate half the server population from the game. My personal view is that the game would probably work better without the degree of separation forced upon players (you could not even whisper players on the other faction, let alone party or share a guild). Seeing that it is actually a theological difference between the two parties, it is like saying two people having the same base religion but slightly different beliefs (e.g. Catholics and Protestants) cannot even talk to each other.
*The large difference between the best equipment and the second-best equipment in the game means that if one side can shut the other off from the best equipment, the results are foregone. A better way to do it would be to either have the best equipment in instances available to everyone (can be as rare or difficult as you like, e.g. the orange accessories in the dungeons) or to have the difference in power levels a bit less (e.g. have purple and orange equipment of the same levels rather than purples at level 53/63 and orange at 59/68).

In spite of these problems, I still love the game and persisted even though most have quit. However, yesterday was just the last straw and made me decide it is just not worth playing any more.
[Rant on, skip if you don't care:]
*Bullies. There does not seem to be much sense of honor among some players in the game, which makes it really unpleasant. The game in its current state requires you to enter the pvp regions to obtain equipment suitable for your level once you hit high 50s. I was unable to obtain level 59 gear due to frequent pks until the boss-spawning event. There is no way to kill the opposition when you are outnumbered and outgeared by that much. Even during that event, members of the opposing faction would come over to our side to kill the spawns and deny us those kills. I was told that I was in a guild where every player was targeted due to the actions of ONE player. So...he was the leader. Let us kill/beat up/go to war with all the people in a country because their president was an ass, especially if you have nuclear weapons and outnumber them, while they only have sticks and stones! I stayed with the guild as a matter of principle until so many members quit that there was no point any more, after which I joined another guild. Then, irony of ironies, after the cap was raised and I could finally start collecting level 59 equipment, I was accused by several members of the other faction of trolling them by taking "their" bosses/lying/being greedy/etc. Again comes the abuse. Sigh. These days, the game is almost like a ghost town. Often, bosses in Night Lipido would spawn and stay untouched for hours. You would think that I would FINALLY be able to farm equipment for my lowly characters in peace. But no...you get level 68 players fully decked in orange gear (partial 68 gear at that) who decides to gank your poor level 60 character who has not a single orange on him while you are trying to solo a boss (soloing is practically required these days). Well done! Have you stolen lunch money from that 5 year old kid today? Or did you walk over to the person who just got run over by a car and kicked them while they are down? It was at this point that I have had enough.
[Rant off]

So...even though I love this game, I feel that staying is just agreeing to be abused. Until the situation becomes fair for everyone, or they put in place a system to prevent abuse, I will be looking at other games for stress relief. Have fun and goodbye.

Well, I wouldn't blame them and wouldn't blame you.

Firstly, that's how the game revolves, its around pvp. So whether you get killed because they hate your leader or whatsoever. It is a pvp oriented game. So you have no choice but to wait for backup,
BUT there is no backup.. your faction cannot fightback since of the population.

Due to that, the game isn't as balanced as it should be.

I enjoyed this your post immensely and you summed up some of my own grievances and loves about this game quite well. Some slight area's I disagree in, but overall, a post that should definately be read and taken into consideration by staff. I realize people read these and maybe even take note or pass on some of the suggestions, but it honestly feels like very little of what the playerbase says (if anything) is actually considered let alone implemented. I'm not going to say the shrinking active community is a result of this directly, but it certainly isn't helping matters. This game has too much potential to be losing so many players.

On a side note, when people try and bully you in game, just let them know your dad can beat up their dad! Or when they call you a noob, tell them I'm rubber you're glue whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you! Judging by the antics of some in game....these seem suitable to the age group =P

Yea good post except I think factions is a good idea. You are considered enemies. Like Aion, the factions could not communicate without a translater or private store. And I hope they would add more pvp zones here. (lvl 20-30) (30-40) etc.

To solve the faction balance issue, just disable creating a toon on the dominating faction until it balances out. Use ACCOUNTS not players to count faction population unlike the stupid people in the above mentioned game.

Add pvp type gear to buy with DP. (bonuses when fighting a player from other faction)

So far I really like this game. I played Aion since beta in august 09 and i dealt with the many stupid decisions they made but when they ruined mid lvl pvp that was it. Mid lvl pvp was when you were able to rift in the oposing factions land and hunt. They created a PvE server where all the servers could change over and grp together, thus leaving regular servers almost dry. You could pretty much run around in their land now and do whatever. Think of it as the taliban (terriorist) running around in NYC and never be seen because its a ghost town...

Hoping for PvP/faction balance improvements,

Killspyke

It's not even the players who need balanced out. It's the sheer amount of paying players on TK compared to SG. A +10 weapon does double the damage of a base weapon and adds +1 level to ALL your skills. The difference in power between a paying player and one who does not is tremendous and can only be circumvented by numbers. Numbers which SG does not have, and is not likely to have anytime soon.

Disabling toon creation doesn't work, for the very fact it is easy to cap toons, and majority of us have toons on both sides. There is no way to keep track of dominance by such an arbitrary number. Adding pvp gear to buy dp doesn't solve anything either. I have made over 1 million dp, on 1 toon alone, and across my other 3 close to 1 million (I highly doubt any SG comes even close). Better weapon=faster grinding=more gold=spinning for dp. Doing this would only benefit TK currently.

The game isn't pay to win; but it requires you to pay if you would ever want a quick way out.

Peoples are doing all they can to do stuffs to beat others..But they are losing the main point of a game is to have fun. People hack,Pressurize other playersforcing them to quit, using duel client to feed them self in RvR, and yet not much is done..in fact barely anything.
