[2012 Halloween Quest Guide] *Updated*

[mod]Oda: The following changes are being made with the 10/18 5pm Maintenance:


Revisited the scale of the Boss Encounter in the Geffen Town Invasion
Smaller groups will now encounter Dark Lord Nermal (Dark Illusion)
Medium groups will now enounter Dark Lord Nermal and Dark Lord Marmaduke (Dark Illusion x 2)
Larger groups will still encounter Dark Lord Nermal (Dark Lord)
For groups who face Dark Lord Nermal (Dark Lord) a much larger EXP reward will be given at completion.

Dark Lord Nermal will now return to his home properly after sucessfully defeating the players and invading Geffen (This will prevent multiple bosses from appearing)

Revisited the ability to enter while the instance is running. If you die or are kicked out you should be able to enter again until
the boss has been spawned
. Will fix next maintenance[/mod]

[Quest Requirements]
40+ Fly Wings(Recommended not Required)
5 Butterfly Wings(Recommended not Required)

Base Level: 50, Lower level and less players results in a weaker version of
geffen defense with lower exp reward and 2 dark illusions, the stronger version comes with a way higher exp
reward and 1 Dark Lord.



It is not required that you have a party for this quest until the end when you are going into Geffen Defense.

Repeatable: Yes
Tradeable: No


1. First Talk to Antoni in Geffen.

2. Go 1 north of Payon to Payon Cave and talk to the Paladin located here, kill 10 zombies & 10 Skeletons and talk to the paladin once more.

3. He will assign you to go to 4 different locations to search for Dark Matter.

1. First Location Geffen Dungeon Level 2 and kill 20 Ghouls.

2. Second Location is Glast Heim Abbey Located Here, kill 20 Evil Druids.

3. Third Location is Orc Dungeon Level 2, kill 20 Orc Skeletons.

4. Fourth and final location is the Sunken Ship, kill 20 Pirate Skeletons and the Location is.

4. After that is complete you will then be teleported into a Maze where you must find Dark Lord at the bottom left of the map.

Here is the starting location and to get past the wall of Willows just go a little south into the tree's and go past them and from there follow the maps.

5. After that is completed he teleports you to the Paladin 1 West of Geffen talk to him and then head to Amatsu.

6. Find the Zombie Girl located here.

7. After that is complete you need to go to geffen and talk to the Paladin 1 map west and then locate Jorge Gnomero.

8. Then you must wait 15 minutes until Geffen Defense starts you talk to him and go inside make sure you have a party it's highly recommended, you have to kill Dark Lord.
Also if you die and leave outside you cannot go back in until 8 hours cooldown is up because there seems to be a glitch that does not allow you to go back inside.

You can also talk to 3 NPC's while inside the instance, one of them you just talk to inside the inner ring a little north of jorge, another they ask you to find a treasure box which is only a little north of the npc by a house, the third is under a round thing a little north east of the inner ring. ;)

9. Quest is now finished! Once you beat Dark Lord! ;) Congrats.

[Quest Reward]

Shadowmancer's Helm
A magic relic that gives the wearer protection from demonic influence.

+12 MDEF
Increases tolerance to Demon and Undead monsters by 5%.
Increases Atk and Matk to all monster sizes by 10%.

Has a random chance of healing or taking away HP and restoring or taking away SP while attacking and being attacked.

Upgrade effects:
4-5 HP/SP heal increases by +5% and HP/SP drain decreases by 5%
5-6 HP/SP heal increases by +5% and HP/SP drain decreases by 5%
7+ HP/SP heal increases by +10% and HP/SP drain decreases by 10%

Level Required: 1
Job : All

Note: Effect in blue will decrease significantly after Event Period November 13

Base Experience: ?,???,??? (Varies based on level, Difficulty)
Job Experience: ?,???,??? (Varies based on level, Difficulty)

Cough* I know a shortcut on the maze, leads you directly to dark lord. But don't use it until you tried walking through the maze at least once ><

Why you need partys for all new quests, if there are no ppl left on Ymir to play with.
Cant GMs just cancel those events on Ymir or make it single playable.

Although every mob's name has changed, including dark lord, they are original versions of themselves who drops nothing

He is correct every monsters name has been changed but is an exact copy of the original.

I have not actually finished this quest so I do not know how much EXP you get but I did list the hat in one of my previous posts.

Thank you Oda and I would highly recommend that Geffen Defense become some sort of mini-game I know alot of people who would be in favor of it and have it very similar to how it works in the quest, just throwing out a suggestion here I don't know if you guys could make it or Gravity would need to.

Make it the same way but have several waves of monsters so for example.

Wave 1-10 Level Required 70+
Wave 11-20 Level Required 80+
Wave 21-30 Level Required 90+

You could have it be weak monsters and build up to stronger ones and possibly remove drops all together and add rewards with some kind of point system.

There also doesn't need to be any MvP's just strong monsters.

When I first went in there I was shocked that Geffen map got so flooded with zombies and other undead type monsters.

quest ends for me once i finish killing the 20 orc skeletons... quest is erased from my quest log and i cant go back to any NPC to finish it

Whats the lowest level/class without super equips that could handle this MVP solo?

150 sura maybe?
I saw suras solo DL and lvl 150 parties get owned by him.

Or a party with a sorc with Magnetic Earth do it with gene/DPS + AB.

Does DL do EQ?

My gene can solo dark lord.... I am sure if you have a sura or gene in your guild or even any other 3rd job with enough support can kill dark lord. Without even needing godlies or mvp cards. If you are on a server that has a lot of those, probably one friend with sick equips will solo dark lord easily for you.

anyone else get dc once getting teleported after talking to Jorge Gnomero? so annoying since i canot re-enter it til 8hrs later (+1 hr bug)

I updated some of the reward information since I have finally completed the quest. oh and the helm gives +12 MDEF.

it wont let me in to the instance... ive done everything now... even found a large party but it wont let me in with them...

You need to wait 8 hours if you left after going inside.
