Okay, Ive been making a merchant and here he is.
Base: 38 Job:36
Str: 40+8
Agi: 9+4
Vit: 10+3
Int: 1+1
Dex: 34+4
Luk: 1+1
And for purposes of full disclosure here are the skills
Enlarge weight limit: 7
Discount: 10
Overcharge: 2
Pushcart: 5
Vending: 10
Item apraisal: 1

First the skill issue; yes im planning on going to job 50.
Mamonite is conspicuously absent because i didnt think i'd need it. Should i max it out?
and if so, am i missing out on other things that i need?

Now i was originally intending to make a BS but the closer i get to job 50 the more i think i would prefer to make an alchemist. Now i notice that there is no sticky for a general alchemist build. But from what ive seen Int and Luk are very necesary and Str not so much.

I guess the main question is, can this be saved? Or should i scrap this char? Or just make him a BS and make another merch into an alchemist?(And if i do make a whole new char, where is a link to a decent alchemist build?) lol

Thank you for your time.
If you need any additional info like gear or anything let me know.

If you plan on making a purebrewer, i would suggest to trans the alchemist first.

So now that you are almost an alch, you should concentrate on str, agi, dex, and vit so you can 99 quickly. After that, do the same until your biochemist gets to about 99/70, then you can use your free reset and pump just dex and luk for good brewing chances. I hope this helps

Also, you can go to irowiki.org for some class builds and descriptions for skills.

Not a pure brewer per se, but id like to be able to make potions after i trans for sure. I was mainly worried about the stat spread that i have for this char until i trans.

In your oppinion would it be more beneficial for me to max out mammonite and put the rest into pushcart, or max out overcharge, and pushcart?

Your char is right where i'd want it to be for an alchemist. Str/vit/dex (or str/agi/dex, but not both) build, with some int to fuel revo spam. Finish pushcart and IWL - those skills are very important.

High int is only useful after you transcend, and only later on as biochem, because you're not going to be using Acid Bomb until higher levels anyway (probably not at all until genetic); you're going to need the int sooner for cart cannon leveling as genetic than for acid bombing (AB is too expensive to use except on bosses and in PVP/WoE) and luk is only important if you're making a potter. Which you also shouldn't do pre-trans (or at all)

Since you haven't transed, your character isn't ruined. As an alch just raise AGI and STR mostly (around7-9x) and DEX to 5-6x. This is the basic battle alchemist build. INT is only necessary when you trans. For skills don't leave Pushcart at 5 unless you want to walk slow. Max Pushcart. I'd get rid of Overcharge and Item Appraisal, since you can just sell your stuff for more in vend and buy Magnifiers for like 40z from NPCs. So just get these skills, as they are most important: 10 Enlarge Weight (the extra weight comes in handy), 10 Vend, 10 Discount, 10 Pushcart, then the rest of the skill points wherever, maybe 1 in item appraisal after all since you have those extra skill points. If you have no zeny to burn don't put on Mammonite, just put the rest on overcharge.

So i didn't want to just up and make awhole new thread because its pretty much the same deal. Im gonna post this and then edit in all my stats equips and skills and whatnot.

Level 77/30
Okay, So my stats are now as follows.....unbuffed
STR: 82+21
AGI: 34+3
VIT: 20+1
INT: 1+6
DEX: 55+9
LUK: 1

Are these okay?

There are reasonsi did what i did, i wanted at least 20 vit, because when i group stuff up im gonna take hits, and i wanted agi, so i can flee stuff when im kiling off the last of a group and for aspd. str and dex should be about right from what i understand.

Skills:
Potion Reasearch: 5
Prepare Potion: 3
Aid Potion: 4 (going to 5)
Axe Mastery : 10
Vaporize: 1
Call Humun: 1
Humun Ressurection: 5

Now, should i get summon plants and marine sphere? Or should i get alchemical weapon 5? (with all the prereq's obviously) I just dont know what would be best at this point. What im going for is transing as soon as possible. I'm exited, the only other char ive liked enough to get that far was the sin, and now that i have a gx he's pretty boring. :sigh:

Here are my items. I am up to buying new gear, i have 80 mil now, so as long as its not omg rediculous expensive i can buy stuff.

+7 Arta's (vanburk)Mercury Riser (made it from scratch for my gx it seems to work out okay, not what im planning on using after i trans.) I also have a mini propeller
+agi dex and flee that i used before i could wear the riser. Would that be beter for me? If not, what would be best?

Robot eye

Pirate dagger

+4 Hard Mink Coat (also an old leftover from the gx(when he was theif)) Unsure what to get for armor until i trans, i see lots of stuff that will work after i trans.

+4 Bloody axe (ATM im using converts from my sage for elemental damage) I also have 1 vvs 2-hand axe(wind)

+4 Mocking Muff (stole this from my gx) I was thinking of getting a ventus skin but wasnt sure what to put in it.

+4 Wing Shoes (another old thief item) I wasnt too concered about the shoes, i have green sprint shoes on my gx he can use after i trans him. But is there anything cheap that would be a good idea before i trans?

x2 Muscle Belts, will switch to rings at lvl 90.

Right now im just doing the eden quests for goats sleepers harpy's and grand peco. grouping them up and cart revolutioning them down. Doing 1500-2k a hit to a bunch of stuff at a time with the converters. Should i just keep that up or is there something i dont know about that would be better for me. I tried metallings, that didn't work, i forgot they divested weapon, and as stated above i dont have the right skill for that, and wont for quite awhile.

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. :D

I would stop raising STR and DEX and focus on getting around at least 7x AGI and 5x VIT. AGI for more ASPD when you're not using Cart Revolution and because it allows you to spam CR faster, and VIT for the extra HP for when you are tanking and using CR.

I wouldn't really worry about the skills. Most of them require certain catalysts which can be expensive if you have to keep using them repeatedly. It's really all about Cart Revolution and your Homunculus mostly to serve as a distraction for monsters/tank/kill. If you really need the extra help, then get Summon Plants and Marine Spheres. You don't really need the protection skills (Alchemical Weapon and the prerequisites) until you trans when you MVP/PVP/WOE.

Your equips are fine I'd say, but maybe you can switch your garment to a Skin of Ventus like you said. If you don't plan to upgrade it past +5, I'd go with a Kavach Icarus card instead of Whisper. The card adds as much flee as Whisper, but without the +50% damage from ghost attacks, and it's half the price of Whisper for some reason (at least in Valk). You can also use a slotted Pantie and Undershirt with the same cards :} I'd also switch to a Verit carded shoe/boots for the added HP and SP. Weapon could be changed, but I'm not sure what to recommend. When you're mobbing and killing with CR, a shield carded with the appropriate racial shield is nice to reduce the damage, so I would rather use a one-handed weapon, though a shield reduces ASPD by a bit.

I'd keep doing Eden quests, and if you can find a party, you can go do Gramps turn ins :} The 86+ Eden quests have 3 hour cooldowns though :{ so if you finished them and have to wait, you can level in places like Stapos, Siromas, Ground Petites (pretty good for mobbing and CR), Glast Heim, etc. :}

Hope that helps!

Indeed it does, quite alot actually. I have decided to get the alchemical "whatever" skills. You are totally right about having to spend alot for the other skills unless you are making the stuff yourself. I looked. :p_omg:

I have to admit, i have almost completely neglected my humunculus. I would assume that you get to keep it when you trans? (When you cast call humunculus after you get 2-* after you trans you get the previously leveled one?)
If so, im kinda F'ed with that. Have a lvl 3 Vani. lol.
Oh well its just mainly afk leveled anyway right? I have VERY limited time to play, with both a girlfriend and a toddler at home i dont have much time to play. So ive just been focusing on leveling the alchemist.

Ive played quite a bit today (compared to what i usually do) and am up to lvl 84. Planning on getting all the 71-85 quests right before i hit 86, and complete all of those without turning them in, completing the gramps quest (100 siromas to go) and turning all of them in(Just base for the gramps) under the influence of a battle manual to jump my level up a bit because i remember after 85 my sin got ALOT harder to level quickly. Right now im just mainly concerened with transing. Would there be a problem if i waited until after i transed to level up my humunculus? Or is that a no no?

Also: Is there a decent 1h axe for alchemist? I was really looking but i didn't see anything at all. And i think a carded ventus skin would be best, i could totally replace the mocking muff.

Thanks again. :thx:

You should really get the plant and marine sphere skills instead. The protection skills have a far more expensive catalyst (Glistening Coat), and you really do not need the skill until you transcend, since you shouldn't be fighting anything that breaks equipment. The protection skills come after you transcend :} At least the Summon Marine Sphere skill can damage mobs, and Summon Flora to have some extra monsters help you. You really don't need any of those skills though, just stick to Cart Revolution, but get Marine Sphere and Flora just in case :}

Your homunculus stays the same from before you transcend. Nothing about it will change :}

Good 1H axes? I don't think there are any :{ You're better off using 1H swords, especially when you transcend. Popular examples of swords for biochemists/geneticists are Twin Edge of Naght Sieger and Elemental Sword. You can use 2H axes like Hurricane Fury or Giant Axe, but there's that no shield problem :{. As an Alchemist, maybe try using something like a Saber[3] with 3 Skel Worker cards or something. Also if I recall correctly, 1H swords give more ASPD to Alchemists instead of axes. Personally I used a +9 Triple Skel Worker Saber from when I leveled new alchies :}
