I decided to give this game a try today, so while it was downloading through Steam, I went to the Warp Portal site and created an account. After that, I was promted to create accounts for the individual games available through the site, so I did so with Rose Online. The game finished downloaded, and I started it up, only to be unable to get past the login screen, because it only gave me the option to create a new account, and no option to login with a pre-existing one. So now I'm unable to use my Rose account through Steam, and the only other options would be to download the game from the site, or make a new account (which would be a waste of time.) Someone should probably look into this problem.

Guess I made a bad decision when signing up here, huh? I've only ever played Requiem, and that was years ago and only lasted for about a week, so I didn't really get a chance to check out the company-to-consumer helpfulness.

This is the first thing I get whenever I launch the game through Steam.

I'm unable to get past this, because apparently it thinks that the user doesn't already have a ROSE account, which isn't the case.

Whatever you want to call it, it's still a problem, because getting around it would require that the person would either have to create another ROSE account, or download the game from the site, instead of using Steam (which would make having the game on Steam pointless.) I appreciate the intended help, but it's kinda useless if someone is unable to even get that far.

True I forgot about that part poping up first.
For that I would suggest just downloading the normal client or you can submit a ticket to the support team (https://support.warpportal.com/ )(<-- that site requires a new user name/password to be separate and more secure) and they can change the email or maybe erase the account for you.

I guess having to re-download isn't that big of a deal, it did DL fairly fast the first time around. Just thought I'd point out this little thing in case someone else ever had the same problem.

My theory is steam gets a cut of item mall sales on accounts created using steam. By not allowing existing accounts they would alleviate the need to determine who is using the standalone launcher from who is using the steam launcher. Of course, it's only a theory. :blaugh:

Am I misunderstanding your problem or is it to do with this..?

On Monday, October 22nd, ROSE Online will launch on Steam, the gaming platform developed by Valve.

From the Steam client, you will be able to register and play new ROSE Online game accounts. If you already have an existing ROSE Online account, you will not be able to access that account through Steam.

Current ROSE accounts will need to be logged in normally, although you can still launch ROSE from the Steam client by following these instructions.

We hope you will help us welcome the members of the Steam community to the world of ROSE Online.

More information can be found on the Steam page for ROSE Online.

.. or have you already figured that out =P

Bahahaha That wasn't what I was trying to do at all :D juuuuust pointing out that certain operations our fine company does, doesn't always go as smoothly as we'd expect them to. For example the dissapearing IM bug. Where you make a purchase -> IM points get deducted -> item is not given. That is after all REAL money they're miss-handling. I'd get fired if I miss-handled as much money as Gravity has done over the last month, not to mention there still hasn't been a fix made that was announced.
