Hey guys, so basically I wanted to start the Dealer class because they look quite interesting, I'm currently level 31 and already I'm finding it hard to understand about making ANYTHING.

I see people selling wings of all different kinds, then I see these crazy weapons for all levels - I'm a bit stuck on firstly how to skill in the tree as I seem to have gone all over the place and done a bit of everything just to see what is available. I also see people wanting to buy certain types of materials which I haven't even needed to use yet for crafting, so why are these people needing them?

Also many different items that have been crafted seem to have many different types of stats on them, how do I make this happen? How do I choose which stats I want to have on that item in particular?

I'm looking for some advice on how to skill, what level I can start making certain items and yes I want to be a pure crafter!

I hope someone can reply with some honest decent advice,

Thanks :)

Okay i'll try to make it a little clearer for you. Your asked couple of questions and i'll try to answer on each of them.

-I see people selling wings of all different kinds, then I see these crazy weapons for all levels - I'm a bit stuck on firstly how to skill in the tree as I seem to have gone all over the place and done a bit of everything just to see what is available. I also see people wanting to buy certain types of materials which I haven't even needed to use yet for crafting, so why are these people needing them?
Wings,Weapons,Backshields,Shields,Armor,Masks are all craftable items that Artisans (2nd job of dealer) is able to make. The higher you level the specific skill the higher level items you can craft, for example when you get the Hardening weapon skill and you max it you'll be able to make all kind of weapons ingame that are sold in the NPCs. Note that there are two skills of the same kind (One for Dealer (1st job) and Second is for Artisan (2nd job)).
People buy certain types of materials because they want to focus on making specific things that are sold quickly in the market, Lets say theres a demand for Eudy wings , most of the crafters will start collecting and buying the required materials to craft it and sell it.
On the other hand, if you deicde not to be an "item" crafter and go with Gem cutting you wont buy the same materials as the "item" crafter does but you'll buy Chemicals, Gems, Hearts, Crystals from people.

The reason you still didnt need the same materials that you saw people buying is cause your not high enough to have that skill or you didnt get your skill level up to max.
-Also many different items that have been crafted seem to have many different types of stats on them, how do I make this happen? How do I choose which stats I want to have on that item in particular?
The other ability of Artisans other than just crafting is having different stats on the items they craft, You can get stats on your crafted items by adding more SEN to your stats.
The higher your SEN is the better the stats you get each time you try to craft something, Therefore those who wants to focus on crafting items (Wings, Backshields, Shields etc) will have more SEN so their crafts will be better and they wont need to spend alot of materials to get a maxed stated item, on the other hand a Gem cutting artisan needs to focus more on CON becuase it gives him more success chance and if he'll try to craft an item the stats he'll get wont be as good and he might no even get a maxed stated item.
Before you disturb your stat points you need to decide what you want to do, Do you want to make Weapons,Shields,Backshields, Wings etc or Gems, Buff potions, Arrows,Grenades, Explosives etc.

The most used stats are the following:
for Gem cutting you should go MAX CON rest SEN.
For Stated items you should go MAX SEN rest CON.

-I'm looking for some advice on how to skill, what level I can start making certain items and yes I want to be a pure crafter!
If you decided to be a pure crafter then i'll advice you to have the Summons in your skill tree just until you hit max level then you should reskill, The summons helps you in leveling if you cant find a party, I'd say just explore everything you want, Try this and that till you get the idea of the skill tree and then reskill and add the specific skills you want :).
You get a free reskill and restat at 220 or 230 if im not wrong.

Hope I helped you a little bit and made it more clear :)

Yeah this is exactly what I needed thanks mate, so bottom line I can't really start making things like wings until I'm what level roughly?

Also lets say I wanted to focus on armor, backs and weapons (Basically not gems and not potions) what skill tree do I go down?

Your welcome :), your right about that , the real money making starts once you hit 230 or 220 I'm not quite sure but I think that the higher you are the success rate goes up.
If you want to focus on armor, backs and weapons you should get the following (I'll list the 2nd job skills, you just need to look at the skill and it will tell you which skills you need to get before you can have it):
1)Advanced Weapon Hardening (Gives your crafted weapons more AP as base stat)
2)Advanced Armor Reinforcement (Gives your crafted armor addtional HP as base stat)
3)Advanced SubItem Craft.
4)Face Item Craft ( Its a Unique skill you should buy from people).

I'll advice you to get the Passives from the other skills to get your SEN and CON higher.

Ok thanks, also, I have maxed the Unique Face Craft Item to level 9 but I see people making all kinds of masks which I cannot - Do I need to buy another face craft book? Or how will I be able to make more face items?

Thanks

There are many masks in the Item Mall that cannot be crafted. If a mask is in the Lucky Spin it is not craftable either, and there are a few masks from events that can't be crafted. Your ability to successfully craft the higher level gear is very low at low level. As a very rough rule of thumb, you can usually craft up to the level you can use fairly well, so trying to craft a mask or armor that a level 70 player can use at level 30 will be quite difficult. I believe there is a free in-game reset for under level 50 (it might be up to a higher level) if you talk to Mayor Darren in Junon Polis, if you would like to redo your skills right now for more of a combat build. There are resets in the Item Mall (or in player vends) for when you want to reset as a pure crafter later on. It's kind of frustrating to try to be a crafter at low level, or at I have always found it to be.

Thanks but that still didn't answer my question :P How can I create MORE things to go on the face? Or is that impossible until I become an Artisan? I have maxed the Unique face craft skill to 9 and I'm asking do I need to buy another book to make more? Or how can I?

There is only one face item craft book, and you do not have to be an Artisan to use it (though you will most likely fail if you try to craft an Ego mask or higher level masks at a low level). If you used that and you maxxed your level in it you have the potential to craft all craftable face items in game. There are no others that can be crafted. Any other face items you see in game are either from events, Lucky Spin, or Item Mall.

Ok thanks, so is it worth me saving all the remaining skill points I have for when I become an artisan?

Well, that depends. As long as you are happy with your ability to fight monsters to gain experience, sure. With a character that I wanted to level as a pure crafter from the beginning, I found that I had to start running away from monsters that were about my level (green is just under level, and yellow is about equal to your level) or I would end up dying, and losing 3% of your experience whenever you die makes it really hard to level. So, my crafter spent most points in combat skills with a few in some craft skills so I could get used to the system while I was leveling. When he hit level 100 and became an Artisan, I reskilled him, but found much the same thing, so his skills are a blend of the abilitiy to fight, and the ability to craft, so that he can continue to level. I anticipate reskilling him again when he's near or at the top level, and at that point maximizing his ability to craft. Knowing that I will be redoing my Artisan's skills when he is higher level makes it easier for me to play around with learning a different craft along the way, or adding to his ability to fight instead of just letting the points accumulate.

As Haiangel mentioned earlier, using the dealer summon skills really helps. The mercenary warriors do take zulie as well as skill points to summon, but they make it easier for a dealer to level and survive while doing so.
