what's the pros and cons between the two (PvE only)

Sin/SRs are more like pvp classes.
If you only want to do pve I would recommend choosing one of those funky AoE classes, like mystic/defiler/tempest - those guys can kill alot of mobs at once. Easy to farm, grind and stuff.
