Hello all, welcome to my basic guide about Gunslinger, the slinger or whatever you call it are very skill oriented class which mean you can't beat Hunter ASPD but you posses devastating damage output compare to them. Gunslinger can only using guns it means if you ran out of ammo you end up using "flick finger"(that deals unarmed damage) instead a dagger like a Hunter do.(yes hunter can use dagger if they ran out of arrow)

Getting Started

The first step to become Gunslinger you must have 20 000 zeny in your pocket or 10 000 zeny will do. To buy bullets of course, you can gain this amount money from your novice training ground, consider yourself lucky if other player ignore their loot while you still there.(like me XD) Learn how the stats work so you didn't make mistake like me in early Gunslinger day long ago. Here the link: http://irowiki.org/wiki/Stats

Job change to Gunslinger

Thanks for the Renko for point it out.

You will require 3 poison spores, 3 clower, 10 shell, 3 fluffs, 1 trunk , 3 green herbs. Some can be loot from your Novice training ground.

Fabre- Green herbs, Clower and Fluffs.
Chonchon- Shell.
Willow- Trunk.

Head to the Airship from Izlude, change you flight in Juno and continue your flight to the Einbroch. Upon arrival you may have option to use "Donkey Taxi" if this the first time you visit Einbroch for 400z.

This guide may have inaccurate about Wise Bull Horn request but it should give you rough idea where is the Gunslinger guild. http://irowiki.org/w...ides#Gunslinger

Upon talking to Master Miller and accept to be Gunslinger, you will be wrap to Payon immediately.

By the time he asking for the items you can get Poison spores from Black Mushroom just outside Payon south entrance. After giving all the item he request, he will asking for one Milk which you can buy at Izlude from NPC vendor for 25z.

Return to the Einbroch you are Gunslinger if you manage to pass this simple job change quest.
Congratulations!

Levelling: Time to lock 'n' load.

First thing to do check what kind type guns you receive no matter what kind you builds always grab a Branch rifle first, if you didn't get Branch rifle instead Six Shooter revolver go to downstairs to buy one and a bullets. Open your inventory and equip window then drag the bullets to your equip window to equip it. And you're done! Time to.hunt some wild plants.

Level 11-50: Geographer and Metalings.(For Rifle and Revolver build)
To the north of Einbroch, there plenty geographer and metaling to shoot for, while the Geographer immovable they have high flee and healing ability to heal their comrades and metaling are kinda tricky to kill especially if you have low damage output. Shoot geographer individually while you can snipe metaling from the stairs where they can't reach you. If you manage to kill one of these you will be reaching level 40 in two hour. You don't require higher AGI to kill it only DEX. By the time you reach level 24 you can switch Branch for the Cyclone (HIT + 10, Critical Rate + 10%) to make you killing more efficient and yes it from NPC shop.

Here other player suggestion.

Ralis (For Desperado/Revolver build)

Level 11-29 Poporing, Ant Hell dungeon

Gunslinger Build: Show me your commitment!

This is compilation from other builds with the help some other people/players from other official server while it look unreliable it give you idea how other Gunslingers really work and play, from outside PvP and WoE, of course.

The Desperado Build

Firemax suggest:

Weapon: Revolver only.

Stats

STR-10
AGI-1
INT-3x
VIT-8x or 9x
DEX-9x (but don't max it, it just waste stat point)
LUK-1
(Without Job bonus)

Skills

Coin Flip LV 5
Increasing Accuracy LV 1
Cracker LV 1
Single Action LV10
Snake's Eye LV 10
Chain Action LV 3
Trigger Happy Shot LV 10
Desperado LV 10

Note from Firemax: For me, I only need all this skill, it can be used on PvP, WoE and MvP. Skill left 19 skill point...^^
VIT build Gunslinger is good for pvp, you can use Double Bloody Garrison(Two Hydra Cards) on your revolver, Trigger Happy Shot and Desperado is your best skill in PVP and Gunslinger not bad in WoE too. Use Desperado at portal to ran out from danger.

Ryusei suggest:

Weapon: Revolver and Gatling gun.

Stats

STR 1
AGI 80
VIT 34
INT 50
DEX 90
LUK 1
(Without Job bonus)

Skills

Coin Flip LV 5
Coin Fling LV 1
Last Stand LV 1
Increasing Accuracy LV 1
Magical Bullet LV 1
Single Action LV10
Snake Eye LV 10
Chain Action LV10
Trigger Happy Shot LV 10
Desperado LV 10

werealltoblame suggest:
Weapon: Revolver and Shotgun.

Stats

DEX 9x
VIT 8x~9x
INT 3x~4~
rest to STR
(Without Job bonus)

Note from werealltoblame: Don't use normal attack, Gunslinger normal attack is terrible, use your skill.
and for weapon, use revolver Western Outlaw and shotgun Blackrose only.

Here my own build, while it's not the best in WoE and PvP, you can use it for PvM and MvP.
Weapon: Revolver and Shotgun.

Stats

STR 1
AGI 1
VIT 84
INT 60
DEX 90
LUK 6
(Without Job bonus)

Skills

Coin Flip LV5
Single Action LV7
Chain Action LV3
Trigger Happy Shot LV10
Desperado LV10
Crowd Control Shot LV10
Full Blast LV10
Spread Shot LV 10
Snake Eyes LV10
Increase Accuracy LV1

Note from me: You may tweak one of this build to your liking and situation after all there is no build that perfect.

Renko suggest:
Weapon: Revolver

Stats

STR 1
AGI 70
VIT 52
INT 50
DEX 90
LUK 1

Note from Renko:
(I) don't remember why, but it has been useful. also, you can drop a item, make "looter" mobs and use desperado or go to sleeper.

Ralis suggest:
Weapon: Revolver

Stats

STR 40
AGI 1
INT 20
VIT 89
DEX 92
LUK 10

Note from Ralis:
Leveling a Desperado Gunslinger is much easier as well... Kill Poporings until you get Desperado 5, then head to Ant Hell and mob ants until 30 or so. Head to Orc Dungeon and kill Orc Zombies with Holy Bullets, then Zenorcs at around 45, then head to Pyramid 4 until 99. =P Or, if you have a Priest, you could probably do Nifflheim or Glast Heim.

The Critical Rifle Build

Here you need to take notice, a rifle like Cyclone, Dusk, Jungle Carbine and Long Barrel critical bonus are increase by percent meaning if your base critical rate is low then the bonus will be lower, while the Lever Action Rifle give you direct 50 critical rate bonus and not by percent.

Stats

STR 18
AGI 90
VIT 30
INT 1
DEX 90
LUK 30
(Without Job bonus)

Note from me: This is just example build, you will be won't required using any skill except 'Hit and Run Tactic' and passive skill. Even though you won't gain Lever Action Rifle at early level this build can consider most cheap and easy to handle than Desperado build, only the problem is you are vulnerable to mobs but you can still using Desperado if you in tight situation.

As mention by Bluewind: A Crit-rifle build is unique in the sense that they can achieve a high crit rating even without having ridiculous amounts of Luk thanks to their weapons. If you fancy yourself a long-ranged (and definitely cooler looking) Crit Sin, then I urge you to try one of these. When using a Lever Action Rifle, compounding it with two Drosera cards alone would give you a raw 80 crit rating. And, like most crit builds, good ASPD pairs well with it so pump some stats into Agi and make sure you get some ASPD potions ready. This build focuses on attacks and NOT on spamming skills, so Int can be kept as low as possible. Same deal with other builds, Dex is still your primary stat.

Disclaimers(on Classic):
- Currently, Lever Action Rifle can only be obtained through OPB's and Drosera's are not in yet.
- Lever Action Rifle has a pretty high level requirement of 70. If that's what you're working towards, plan your stat build ahead, you wouldn't want to be stuck with a Luk slinger in the mid 50's.
- Only skill worth mentioning with this is Last Stand. LAR isn't built for Tracking or any of the other skills for that matter.
- It's possible to achieve a 100 crit rating from equipment alone by equipping two Sheriff Badges from BG.

Guns Suggestions.

Revolvers Type:

Crimson Bolt [1]- Low damage but better than nothing, early Gunslinger use this for Desperado skill only.
Available two slot cards version from Metaling at 0.05%

Garrison [1]- Second the best for Desperado build, this gun pack a punch. If you want to perform Trigger Happy Shot
now it's the time. Only the problem is to get it or to make one.
Available two slot cards version from Garrison quest. http://irowiki.org/w...r_Weapon_Quests

Gold Lux [0]- Exist for only one purpose, satisfy the cheapskate that willing trade their HP for free Coin Fling.
Lootable from Teddy Bear at 0.05%

Six Shooter [1]- Very low damage revolver that it's existence was questionable among Gunslingers.
Available two slot cards version from Holden at 0.05%

Wasteland's Outlaw [2]- The best revolver for variety builds, it's has no HIT reduction instead you gain bonus HIT and ASPD depending on your AGI. Refine it to higher levels such as +7, +8, +9 it damage can be considerably higher than Garrison itself.
Obtainable from Ragged Zombie at 0.01%

Rifles Type:

Branch [3]- Standard issue rifle that was used for early levelling, it's three slot cards can be benefit for status cards.
Can be bought from Trading Merchant and Chivas Lugal or loot from Cruiser at 0.05%

Cyclone [1]- Acceptable damage with some bonus, good for serious snipping levelling.
Available two slot cards version from Antique Firelock at 0.05%

Dusk [1]- Same as Cyclone, it just increase 30 ATK and required specific level to equip it. Only one slot card was available.
Lootable from Dimik at 0.05%

Jungle Carbine [0]- Suitable for using Tracking skill and other non-related to critical attacks.
Can be bought from Trading Merchant and Chivas Lugal.

Lever Action Rifle [2]- This rifle was designed for critical attacks Gunslinger, it give 50 critical rate, put a proper cards it may become your best weapon ever.
Lootable from Flame Skull at 0.2%

Long Barrel [0]- Unlike Lever Action Rifle you do have problem to perform critical attack, as 20 critical rate does not enough to cover up critical rate reduction from opponents. To make up for lack critical attack you will be gain autocast Level 5 Tracking at 2% chance, clever rifle I must say.
Available one slot cards version from Venatu at 0.1%

Gatling Guns Type:

Butcher [0]- The most higher damage gatling gun that available, only the problem is this one doesn't have card slot and you need to create this gun from Researcher En. Aey quest or farm it from Panzer goblin.
Lootable from Panzer Goblin at 0.05%
Available one slot card version from Gemini-S58 at 0.05% and Uncle Harrison quest. http://irowiki.org/w...r_Weapon_Quests

Drifter [1]- Use a Garrison if you want to using normal attack or defend yourself. The Gatling Guns are very sensitive to damage output and ASPD, this one doesn't worth your bullets.

Shotguns Type:
[All shotgun normal attack will do splash damage to nearby enemies, too bad it's too slow to kill anyone]

Black Rose [1]- Affordable yet devastating and slotted too. If you planning using Full Blast skill, this is your shotgun of choice until you can grab better shotgun than this.
Can be bought from Trading Merchant and Chivas Lugal.

Gate Keeper [0]- Unlike it brothers, Gate Keeper was design for normal attack because it have higher chance(6%) for auto casting Level 6 Spread Attack. A good replacement for Black Rose and never-ever using normal attacks unless for fun.
Lootable from Zakudam and Archdam at 0.05%

Gate Keeper-DD [0]- In terms of damage it's can overpowered all the shotgun in Gunslinger arsenal and this one have refinement DEF bonus, DEX +1 and 3% auto casting Level 6 Spread Attack when using normal attacks.
Lootable from Zakudam and Archdam at 0.05%

Rolling Stone [1]- It's not good idea to use Full buster at early level instead Spread Attack might be useful somewhere else.
Can be bought from Trading Merchant and Chivas Lugal.

Thunder P [1]- You won't kill anything with lower ASPD and low damage. But for status cards it might can do the trick.
Can be bought from Trading Merchant and Chivas Lugal.
Available two slot card version from Dimik 0.1%

Grenade Launchers Type:

Destroyer [0]- A requirement to use Gunslinger mines, the problem is Gravity imagine it's overpowered weapon for Gunslinger while the reality is, it's a troublesome skills and ammo.
Lootable from Photon Cannon at 0.05%
Available one slot card version from Apocalypse at 0.01%

Inferno [1]- High damage will be benefit for some skills, not Gunslinger mines and other related to Grenade Launcher skills.
Can be made from Ingrid quest. http://irowiki.org/w...r_Weapon_Quests

Gears Section:

These all are my recommendation, you don't have to waste too much resource on it if you can't afford it. Any basic gear will do as long it give you a good defense and damage for weapons.

Grenade launchers
Inferno [1] used for Bull's Eye skill.

Rifles
Lever Action Rifle for Critical Rifle Build and Long Barrel for hardcore sniper that using Tracking as main damage.

Basic PvM Gears
(Refine them to four only. If you can afford for replacement, then ignore this)

Headgear

Middle
Opera masque
Masquerade
Alarm mask
(Anything that you see fit.)

wow, I never think in put so much VIT to a revolver gunsling, but hey, every I think some of this day I'm gonna try it! anyway, I would not recommend having a gun like your first/primary perso since you need some money for the bullets (silver bullets and blood bullets are the best!) and it becomes more true if you like the grenade launcher! And in the first lvl's it's a lot easier if you have some money & armors!

My Desperado build is something like 40 Str, 1 Agi, 20 Int, 89 Vit, 92 Dex and 10 Luk.

=P Or, if you have a Priest, you could probably do Nifflheim or Glast Heim.

mmm in the first lvls payon cave is a good option, just buy some silver bullets, like that you get some loot too, Even in lvl 30 or something like that if you are in a nice party the second floor is a good option then in lvls 40-50 you can go to metallings and geographers :)

mm, i guess as soon you become a gs, you can go ein south, hit a poporing or metaling (slow monster) a few hits, and then run from it until you dont see him in the screen, then come back and repeat the process, is a shameful tecnique but, you can gains lvls without the use of skills.

is the advantage of the long range~

another thing, there is a myth that desperado delay is affected by your aspd (need to check this pls ;<), i mean, if you have 193 aspd (via drooping alicel i guess) you will not have delay and be able to spam desperado like crazy~

edit: myth is with "y" *¬*

A Crit-rifle build is unique in the sense that they can achieve a high crit rating even without having ridiculous amounts of Luk thanks to their weapons.

Disclaimers(on Classic):

I've also seen and tried a crit-gatling build back in the day but I'm still trying to figure out how it came about :p_laugh: Hope this helps!

Done test it. Desperado works as intended, no fancy reduce delay is happend at 193 ASPD. :sob:

If you still want to use rifle skill, you can use any rifle and put a Archer Skeleton card to increase skill damage.

I have a question about crit gunslinger. why 18 str? is it just for weight purposes? if so, would a Max Weight Up scroll be better and put those str points somewhere else?

great guide btw, thanks!

When I writing this guide I imagine people want to try out to be Gunslinger without spending in real cash. Yes, it's true Max Weight Up scroll/Gym pass can do a big favor, but I let the player jurisdiction to use it.

Sadly those of us wanting a Crit build are basically stuck twiddling our thumbs for a while. Better to use a Chick hat to help with damage as you level till you can get the long barrel, but even then +20 Crit is not much. Thinking of getting Chain Action to 10 and using pistols for a while, since I'm going max Dex and Agi. My renewal gunslinger use pistols as well since there are not that many rifle skills to worry about.

Guess like the guide says you could use Sheriff Badge(s) with a Long barrel but I'm not pvper to not an option for myself. Even then it's only 40% crit with two Badges. Maybe another +16 crit if you put Kobold cards in the badges and get hold of a slotted long barrel and put a Soldier Skeleton card in it but then your talking insane amount of time and zeny for only about 56% crit.

Really looks like our only options are really a different build for now or wait till after transcended classes are added and lever action become available (Plus our other 20 skill levels that will be available then).

edit: for that matter are battle ground even in? Crit build may var will be impossible till after transcended classes are added.

I use pretty much straight shotguns.

Let's see how far I'll go.

Also, if anyone on Loki has any Gate Keepers, please let me know.

ROratorio's calc displays something different. There is a cap on motion delay for desperado that is based off attack speed. The minimum delay is .75 seconds with 40 total agi and 130 dex; you can't drop it any further. That being said... Leaving agi at 1 only increases the delay by about .09 seconds so it's hardly effected.

A few things are incorrect, unless it was changed. GG card doesn't work with Gunslinger's coins, last stand comes in handy for when you're able to party camp Abyss Lake,Nameless, or Odin(Tkm will be the main killer here, but you can still support with Desp.)

Tracking can deal better dmg than Full Blast with less bullets with the full BG set+ a few cards like Dame of Senti card, and etc

Disarm has it's uses trust me! Stops EMP breakers. Also it can become a good defence against a linked+EDP sinx.

Crowd Control Shot can combo with Full Blast against characters under numa (Shotgunner)

Spread Shot can kill a cripple a pre-cast with strings and the right equipment.
Gunslinger mine can be used as pre cast(Freezing is the only worth while mine to be honest) just some PvP/WoE tips for you to expand your gameplay =0.
