Not charging so damn much for stuff.

They thrive because people are willing to plunk down the change for their vast zeny reserves.
But then, you have to ask yourself... why are people so desperate as to buy zeny?
Well... those white potions sure aren't being sold for ninety nine million each if you catch my drift.

Funny story..

The hacks that have caused us to Password change seem to all have been done by a gold selling site that we know from past experience pays money for account info. So if you shared, ever got keylogged or purchased power leveling service or purchased zeny you likely are a target.

Stealing the items/zeny from accounts they compromised to then sell to other players

They also run massive bot rings. So the bots you are reporting are related to the cause of the password change, which is hte cause of our complete backlog of tickets.

Email change/password recovery is more important than bot reports, as it has a more specific benefit to users. So if people didn't buy zeny, the bots would not be around and likely the account compromises wouldn't have taken place either.

Bot squashing is going to start happening after the flood of email changes is completed. I have a feeling they did the compromises because they ran out of zeny sources. That means more bots will likely be made in the upcoming months.

I've been seeing a lot of bots in Ymir hunting Siromas. Some of them are even Trans which is ridiculous.

Let me guess, mostly knight/LK bots, with a few assassins and rogues. Theres been crapload of bots like that on valk forever.

ygg isnt safe from bots either. theres a ranger bot i've seen a few times running around.

Yea mostly Assassins, but I saw this one 99 Mastersmith who was grinding for about 12 hours straight. I kept track of him for as long as I could (I was taking breaks every hour or so, but he never rested) and it also seems like bots have the ability to walk at increased speed forever.

I sent a report but I doubt it will do any good.

People who bought zenny or sold accounts got hacked so you reset everyone's passwords? O.o
If they are running outta resources, does that mean people are buying from em, or are they getting banned?
I hope you guys will solve this problem eventually, every time people spend money on em it's money they could be giving to you sadly. :/

bots have been around since BETA.. the captcha can be easily bypassed.


ban the zeny spammers in pront; its easier since they are in one place etc... bots will aaaaaaaalways be around so its so dumb to see 5 threads a week on it..

let's focus on fixing renewal/lag issues so we can actually have a fun game..

In a recent paper article Interpol stated chinese mafia gangs are now putting all thier efforts into selling in-game currency in preference to drug running/ peddling because the profits are huge. It has been estimated the illegal trade of in-game currency from china alone now exceeds many billions of US dollars a year.

So i would say bots and in-game currency selling is here to stay, unless the game itself sells currency which potentially could bring a whole lot more dilemmas but its not as if Ymir isn't totally ruined economically already, because it is.

Ygg on the other hand would be totally ruined by any introduction of such measures. Although i'm sure our chinese mafia friends are working hard to secure that market too.

I find it hard to belive that the developers and GM team didn't make any effort to take care of the bots on a long term.
All the changes they made where very small, I thought was just a stall tactic to somthing bigger, yet nothing bigger came.
How sad.

I'm a novice trying to get job levels at payon field killing spores with hundreds of bots and DB's around.

One way to get around this, and also a suggestion to Gravity people, make spores and boa's stop dropping strawberry. I noticed that for Valkyrie, the price of strawberry has gone up so much that it's ridiculous.

Maybe make NPC's start selling SP potions. I think those bots are there to hunt for strawberry, because I don't understand why else would assassins and rogues kill low level monsters like spore and boa.....

I'm just guessing, I'm relatively new to RO myself.

And yes, it's annoying, and it's funny to see how many bots have a "secondary" bot following and casting heal and benediction spells.

Try pay-to-play servers, it costs money, so there aren't as many bots, but I'm too cheap to pay......

Valkyrie is free, so, I guess there is no way to stop these bots from remaking.

But I would be interested to hear suggestions on deterring these bots.
