Used search haven't seen anything similar to my question, but is there anyway for me to LIMIT my FPS in ROSE? Or anything else that would reduce the stress on CPU temp.

When playing ROSE my CPU Instantly jumps up to 51-52 degrees celsius... No other game forces my CPU even over 45, including WoW Black Ops 2 BF3 and other games that are much more intensive to my hardawre then ROSE.

My suspision is that my FPS is extremely high in ROSE which is causing higher temperatures, however I have no idea how to limit framerate.

Not from the game it'll have to be done from the video card or 3rd party prog, you can thank the horrible coding for it, but 51-52 is within comfortable temps i wouldnt even be bothered by it if i were you.

Comfortable sure, but not reasonable for the quality of ROSE's graphics and it's hardware demands.

They just have the coding more towards cpu power then gpu, mine does the same thing more so since i usually run 8+ client my temps will hit 60's at time and load be around 80% while gpu is sitting at around 30 and load around 20% -_-. Just watch it a bit if you really dont like it find a limiter but be warned it is a 3rd party prog and gravity can say something about it but its unlikely you can also see if your monitor will let you set the refresh rate lower then 60 and try it at 45 or so just make sure vsync is on or all is for not :P

It's fine, my i7 3930K @ 4.2 GHz is at 44-45C cooled by an H80 with 1 client of rose open. That, and my room temperature is around 55-60 F.

Btw, what's your BF3 tag? I play that quite a bit :P

Because ROSE is a heavily CPU intensive game, it was written back in 2004 before GPU processing was used more often. There's alot of software emulation for things especially for things like animation

which would be done on the GPU nowadays.

-Genesis, I just reworded parts.

That would explain all the off and on acceleration of displayed graphics when playing the game.

For example, your riding in a cart at 1710, but it visually slows down to like 800, then you just bounce across the screen back in sync of where you should be.
Or another example such as displayed animations between clients; sometimes you see them, sometimes you don't.
Same goes for like monsters, when you kill them and they don't die right away visually, until you unselect them and walk away.

Numerous other things too, but I'm too tired to think of it all right now lol.

They should hire a new team that will fix all of the current bugs, and they will have to improve the game to something that's more 'Nowadays'.

Because Idk what the problem is but eventhough I can play hardcore games, rose lags quite a lot ??.

i7-2670QM 3.1GHZ turbo boost
Nvidia gt 540M 2gb
8GB DDR3

looks okay to me but still/...... ?

I think you've missed the point. This game was created back when our current high end systems weren't even around. Rose Online doesn't utilize all our high end equipment like the games that were designed to do so.

Think of it like this, Rose Online is like an old skool peddle bike with a V8 engine jerry rigged on it. It may work... but not as well as a full frame body designed for that engine.

you can use MSI afterburner (for ATI cards) and EVGA Precision for Nvidia cards to limit your framerate.
You can buy a new CPU cooler or replace the thermal compound to lower temperatures if you want.

yeah i agree the game stress much on CPU not on GPU...
even in single client it uses 80% load on my dual core that's why it lags even i have 1gig pcie video card.

i hope the developer here make an option to the game interface to
ON or OFF the EFFECTS of map environment, buffs, bonfires flames, AOEs...

TYVM...

52 C is fine for a modern CPU under 100% load on stock settings.

Modern Intel processors are spec'ed at 65 to 69 C for desktop units, and 100 C for mobile (part of this difference is because mobile CPUs use a different means of measuring temperature, which reads higher). AMD's specs are similar.

I didn't miss anything, but they should remake the game with a new and better engine.
Yes it takes alot of time and money, but I do bet that the game will run better and it will be more attractive to play for others.

That's exactly it. It would take a lot of time to make, and quite a bit of money. Also, it will bring a whole slew of new bugs to fix.

Yea, I was reading the post and I was like, wtf- since when did zurn get so smart- ... Then I read who you where quoting and was like, oh.

---

At any rate- i do believe there is a way to toggle the FPS in the video settings - but I am not 100% sure; I do not have rose installed on this computer atm.

But I am very sure you have come a very far way computer wise since we have first made an encounter.
