The creator of Gem calculator brings you, Skill calculator.

Intro
I was bored of having to constantly switch pages on the Rose online compendium and use a notepad or excel file to keep track of all my characters and how I wanted them.
So I made a tool that would allow me to plan my characters and keep them all in a nice little application.

What can it do?
- Build any character with all their skills (including unique skills).
- Save your characters so that you can easily load them back later
- Build a hashcode of your character and share it with others to show them your character
- Receive a hashcode from somebody and insert it into your skill calculator to see their character

In Skill calculator you can select or deselect any skill you wish. The program will automatically adjust the other skills in the trees as required.

Download
You can download the program from this link http://www.stijndp.b...culator_1.0.zip
Unzip the file and start the exe. Check up on the help section in the menu to see which controls are avaible.

Don't hesitate to report any errors, bugs or feature requests.

Screenshot
The following character was build with only 4 double clicks. You can get it even faster by just importing this hashcode fc8a4j3e2se2j3e2a18j2a3fsefa3fj2aja8

Yeah I'm 100% sure there are bugs. It contains +40 000 lines of codes that I had to mostly write myself. And a lot of auto-generated too.

Just need you guys to encounter them and report them :D

When using XP I also noticed a small bug when you drag the screen too fast, your mouse pointer will go outside the dragging area.

Put your mouse back onto the window bar of the program and you can release it by clicking your mouse once. This issue does not appear to happen on my Vista or Win7.

Cool wonder if at the same time you could implement the stat calc as well unless it has that. I haven't gotten to use it yet :D

There is actually allready Rescudo's stat calculator. Would be useless for me to build the same thing he allready did.

It's something in my mind to build an improved version of Rescudo's, but imo his tool is still good enough to feed the community.

i know about Rescudo's stat calculator i already have it been using it for a while now, but as far as i know it does not save the stats that you put in it and i think it would be nice to have it all in one nice little bundle but its not my program it was just a suggestion.

That's a good point. But I don't feel saving the stats is the scope for this program.
But I suggest you can add the stats into the description of the character you save in skill calculator. In the screen where you manage characters, you can easily change the description of a character in case you want to change your 'saved' stats.
(edit: I didn't add it in the help menu but in the screen to manage characters you can select a character and right click to get some actions to choose from. I'll add that to the help screen)

If I ever make an improved version of a stat calculator, it would certainly contain a save function. But like I mentioned, I'm not up to it at this moment.

  • Export Character then clicking Copy to clipboard comes up with error as seen below in Spoiler 1 Only happens the first time afterwards works

I've had to research this error because I couldn't reproduce it.

This error happens when another application is locking your Windows clipboard (ie monitoring it constantly). Some applications that can do this:
- Remote desktop connection programs often do this (did you start the program on a computer you were remotely connected to?)
- A lot of download managers like FlashGet have an option activated to watch your clipboard in case you copy a link so that they can react on it (if you have 1 or multiple download managers installed, you should be able to stop this behaviour somewhere in the options of these programs)
- You have malware on your computer that is keeping track of your clipboard which is a common technique to gather passwords/usernames/...

I made you a little program to check out which program is causing this error http://www.stijndp.b...ipboardLock.exe
Try to run it before you get the error in my program, then it should be able to tell you which program is keeping his eyes on your clipboard.

edit: as for as skill calculator goes. I can only suppress the error, I can not fix other programs that refuse to release the clipboard :D

I'll be making a release version 1.0 this weekend with reported bugs fixed and also some other small tweaks.
So if anyone has noticed any strange behaviours when inserting skills, let me know.

After this I will be focussing work on a 3rd tool.

It's possible that you will lose your settings but your saved characters will remain if you place the .exe in the same map as the 0.1 version. Or you can place the file 'charsave.txt' into the same folder as your new version.

Don't know why my post was removed, but I will post it again.

I have all the needed .Net frameworks installed, and still can't get the program to even launch.
Running Windows XP SP3.
