Just as the title state, is ROSE a gigantic memory dump? I notice the use of PC memory for ROSE has increased over time. However when the used of memory for ROSE reaches 600 thousand K, which is more than 8 time of memory consumed by Fire Fox when I watched movie, it is something we need to discuss.

There's a thread about it in the Technical Support section, and yes the longer your client is open the more memory it will eat.

Sucks for vendors who have to keep it open 24\7 (me included, Ima have to buy a new laptop because rose ate it)

Yes it is a memory slaughterer but at most it will kill about 80% of what your RAM is. I'm only speaking as with 1 client over night. The worst scenario that I encounter was a vend over night and next day to open another client to play, it killed all the memory.

Your PC will completely frozen when you run out of memory. When it happens, you have to push the power button to force your PC to restart.

Honestly I've had a client run all week maxed out my CPU and I'm pretty sure my physical memory as well and all it did was make everything go about half as fast.

I've tested out my less than 1337 comp and it can handle 10 clients quite well, with a browser open, videos running, and so on, and it still ran pretty fast. Maybe I am just lucky though. Strangely enough, only one client took up 600k memory usage, while the rest used within 200-300k.

Use Genesis's Launcher and just resize the rose client to a size big enough to move where you need to and put items in your shop. The smaller the client, the less memory it will use.

When you first run on the client, you won't see the big difference. You wil only see the memory absorbing massively when the client it's running on a long period of time.

I think you misunderstood that memory we are talking about is RAM memory and not storage memory.

Wait, someone here sayd something about 80%, it means that it doesnt matter if I have 1GB RAM or 4GB RAM, the client will use the same % of memory?

I don't think so. I have 6GB of RAM on Win7 64-bit version and it is 850,000K memory usage with 2 clients opened. I think it also depends on your video card too

Wow, this is amazing. May I know your PC's full configuration? Do you run all clients on max or min settings? Thanks!!!

Back when I took my MCSE training, we learned about memory leaks. It was explained that programs which are errors in their code which do not give the memory back to the O/S after using it will slowly use up more and more of the RAM. If the RAM become fully used, the computer will start paging to the hard drive which causes performance to tank badly. Rebooting is the fastest way to clear things out AFAIK.

I've notice if I left a Rose client open over night it would take a long time to open the screen, the computer would crawl. Rose didn't used to be that way a few years ago.

So we must conclude saying that rose is a huge error itself.

Hahaha, I guess . I assume the best thing would be to rewrite the whole game engine, but that would take some time.
