I see 2 types of Oridecon boxes being sold:

Posted Image HD Oridecon 10 Box

Why do they have 2 different types of Oridecon? Is there any difference between these 2?

Enriched Oridecon lets you upgrade weapon only while HD Oridecon allows you to upgrade upper headgear, armor, garment, and shoe.

Dude, what are you smoking? This is not accurate at all -Azzy

Enriched elu/ori allows you to upgrade up to +9 with a higher success rate than normal or HD ore. On a failure, the item is lost.

HD elu/ori allows you to upgrade, with the normal success rate, but on a failure, the item has it's refine rate reduced by 1, instead of breaking. In order to use HD ore, the item must be +7 or higher, however, once you start a conversation with the HD upgrade npc, you can continue using HD elu, even if it falls below +7, as long as you don't run out of zeny or elu (and as long as you don't close the conversation).

In all cases, Oridicon is for weapons, Elunium for all kinds of armor.

No, it only takes one HD Ori/Elu per attempt.

So if I understand correctly, enriched is the "best" way to get to +7, and HD is the best way to get anything above +7. And there's no "safe" way of getting to +7; only for levels above +7.

Is this assessment correct?

Yes, also keep in mind of the safe limits on items as well. Those you can use plain elunium/oridecon on without breaking.
lvl 1 weapon safe to +7
lvl 2 weapon safe to +6
lvl 3 weapon safe to +5
lvl 4 weapon safe to +4
armors safe to +4

After that your best bet is enriched to +7. Also after +10 you use new refinement ores so HD is only to +10.

just wanna add: at the moment, it's possible to get safe to 7 certificates to safely reach +7 using non-enriched ores.

and since this is a thread about enriched/hd oridecon, i shall ask my question here: on average, how many hd oridecons would you guys recommend one to prepare to +8 a lvl4 weapon from +7? of course the best luck one can have is to +8 in 1 hd oridecon~ but what about "over-preparing for the worst"? 50? 100 hd oridecons? /wah
