I'm looking to get some MVPing and new world/thor/tower hunting going. Right now I have a 9x agi/dex sniper and I often play with a HP, what would be the best 3rd member for our setup?
I don't have unlimited zenny, so I won't really be able to get much over-upgraded gear, but I should be able to swag together the basics.
Would a MS monk beat out a sac sader? Though with renewal I guess MS probably won't be that hot.

Any advice would be great, thanks.

Sac sader would be great if you had something better to Sac. It's better to use it like an HP battery for your main tank imo.

Currently, the best tank in the game is a MS monk, no way around it.

Since MS sets def/mdef to 90, the only stat a MS monk needs is vit for hp right?

I do not know a whole lot about Mental Strength builds, but I do know that you need to get a good amount of Dex to help keep your skills up.

Some people would say to get Int/Luk, but really, a Vit/Dex build should work fine in my opinion. Perfect Dodge is probably better gotten from gear than from stats.

A good MS monk will have a sac tank backing them up though.

I think MS is a lot better in renewal, gives 90% resistance. Am I wrong?

More to the point. The only time I saw a moving MS party was in ni3 when the monk/champ would get cursed which as slow as the walking speed is, it was faster than MS. I think that's how it went.

Stick MS to tanking MVPs with a Sacer. 90def/mdef sounds good on paper, but slow walking speed and a duration is just tedious.

Champ is only good at tanking certain MVPs as many can do dispel which cancels mental strength and wrecks the Champ and the paladin quickly. Generally LK sacced by Paladin is the alternative to the monk/sac setup for enemies that do dispel.

That's why you want high VIT/DEX on an MS tank, for MvPs which dispel you should be able to re-cast MS very quickly.

MS champ, but personally I find a paladin more fun. If you're purely strategy though, MS.

if its a pure ms, vit and dex... ms in renewal is actually ALOT better then it is now. instead of giving you 90 def/mdef it reduces all incoming damage by 90% after which all other reductions included from def, armor, reductions are calculated... you still run into the same problem with dispell but its effectiveness is greatly increased

Best tanker post renewal, hands down is RG. Nothing else can compare to their tanking ability.

No ranker votes =P. Its dominated by RG now. No other class (that I've seen) can get well over 240+1000 defense, 60k+ hp, evade magic, evade physical, 80% less from ranged, and thats not including everything else that they benefit from via tanking.

why? wouldn't it be better if you combine shura's MS with rg's Block (which is extended to the shura, by sac)?
