Are they trying to make prot PvP char Build???? :waddle:
Another twist different from just tanking?

and all those hp- debuffs oh gosh

If they are trying so, thats not a hell of contribution to this class

Poor Poor Prot , What have they done to you Prot,

If they wanted to make you worthy of PvP and battlefield they have to try harder

Loyalty you are very experienced player what do you think about new skills for prot?

And how other classes new skills and changes will affect this class?
I now prot is a very specialized class and mented to be a tank meat shield, but sometimes people like solo and GvG and Battlefields. tanking is not everything,
a brief review of new skills makes me think prot had the least advantage and is even weaker now.

Ill never Jobchange, i love my prot. I like challenges but come on dude,
Prot is far behind other classes in most aspects of the game...

By the way im a prot in the PK server and always play prot :waddle:

Weaker? :waddle:

Protectors get a slow removable on 7 people with a 5s cooldown at max level. That's completly overpowered. WTB prot with me in PvP for slow immunity and def buff.

About Broken Morale; it's not specified what kind of damage it reduce but a flat reduction of 10% physical and skill damage on bosses and players is pretty decent.


Do note that there was 0 Prot nerf while almost every other classes are now weaker; Prots are lucky.

well some classes stay with focus on support the Party/Ally
Prot. belongs to em
same with Radiant they wont get Offensive skills
so that the classes stay different from its skill Tree.
its like in the Commercial:

Most of the 'balance' changes come from the PvP aspects of the game, after all most people spend their money to be better at PvP not at PvE. Since protector's heals were nerfed to the ground, they haven't been a big threat (or a threat at all) in PvP, they just run around like headless chickens taking hits. Other classes like elems and defilers have been complained about for a long time, so they get tough nerfs, cos they needed low amount of Cash Shop to become a pain in the ass, so this is the way korean devs tell us... If you wanna shine on PvP, show us your wallet.

Seriously, if they nerfed protectors that'd be the tip of the iceberg lol. The new debuff they've got is pretty useful in PvE and PvP, you'll be able to reduce bosses crit chance to 0% if you enchant a -25% Crit Chance on your weapon, that'll make tanking way easier. And the party restraint recission is pretty nice yeh, but I don't see many prots in the battlefields, at least not high level prots.

Ok they way you show this issue, it means there is really a huge twist for protector.

Skill grid for prot used to be pretty straight forward and lacked of variety.
-most people avoided maxing dire hit, onslaugh caused they suk
-most people tend to power fully taunts, cause those are important for boss tanking and grinding tanking
-some people tend to get skills like vital stab and shield strike
-some people also rised shield skills for boss tanking,
-some avoid shield skills cause those suk at pvp since shield cannot block skills
-but there were always enough points to rise healings and defense skills

we always had plenity of points to rise most skills

So according to your posts, we might expect a new kind of protector
not the one with max shield/defense skills suit for boss tanking; but one suited for GvG and battlefields as support char

As for myself, i have this build
level 1 chain slash : filler but it gives quick cheap weak damage
level 1 vital stab + 1 dna : 20 sec destealth really helps agains rough and branches
level 1 will of fight : soccer kick filler
level 4 quick attack : enough to top sword and give bludgeon decent speed
level 1 physical blessing : soccer kick filler
level 10 survival instinct : beacuse long range defense is a very rare stat to get
level 1 skin of stone : mostly soccer kick filler but extra defense is never bad
level 10 shield strike + 1 dna: too unreliable at 70% hit. I take it 97% and still misses
level 5 taunt : 15 range pull
level 7 taunt cry : decent grind aggro at this level

never bothered with dire hit/onslaught

level 10 lowblow : main power skill and gives extra aggro when mid boss tanking
level 9 restrain ressecion : 20 sec recasting which overcomes most slowdown cooldown
level 10 restoration + 1 dna : max heal but only 1 dna. more than 1 dna doesnt help; really
level 7 sacred hand + 7 dna : awesome, can target anything
level 1 shield mastery : never maxed, i dont raid much, only biskra or ruinhorn
level 1 aegis of protection : also, never maxed again, i dont take on high raids
level 4 shield fortress + 4 dna: even it cannot help much at pvp it works grinding / tanking
level 4 lesser partyheal +4 dna: :P this speaks itself
level 7 spiritual intensification plus 7 dna: :P this speaks itself

So with this build I reduced considerably tanking capabilities to rise GvG usefulness
and is so so when tanking.

Notice some RAID people get healing skills but they dont max those cause they consider they always have radiant or other healers backing up, instead they use their points on shield skills.

I used to have low blow level 1 and max level 10 both taunts when i used to raid tank
I gave up ubber tanking because tanking is suited more for S1 veteran players or S1 armor owners and with loads of money to expend on this game; never had a chance agains Lord Werinuman. I gave up, im free player one char (i work and study... you know).

At first glance i was dissapointed when i saw the new skills
i always claim prot is worst PvP not because weak attacks but is slowest class out of all


I was expecting skills like this:

Sentinel/body guard: Rush skill, 20 meters range, select an ally under physical attack and become target instead

Undersheet: lowers damage by x% when damage goes over 1000 hp

Guard shield: changes to guard instance to lower damage but cannot move

maybe an autorevive with long cooldown, like 10 minutes and resist%

And gosh, how i would love to get the new counterattack skill to make some classes
think twice before attacking, if they dont want to give prot attack skills at least they could give them this counter. :D


Anyways i believe now there will be a new generation of prots like mine that gave up tanking to become party effective.
will still sukas at PvP though.

Just like some tempest gave up magic power to rise support skills

And hell is really hard to be prot in pk server, im a punchingbag
but i dont give up i like challenges :waddle:

PD: gotta think about a new skill grid :thumb:

Dont want to sound rude or anything since you are new but with that build you better jobchange to commander, reducing the capabilities for tanking is not a good idea for a prot because lets face it, without a dash you will be just a big yellow (if you use level 65 armor) target, and the other skills are not exactly useful except for lowblow and maybe shieldstrike. Hybrid protectors are useless unless you have money to +30 everything.

Oh my, I'm sad everytime I see a Protector on enemy team...All those OP buffs! -_-
I've seen Protectors changing the tide of battles many times with Def/Block buffs in FoC, but they seriously fail at doing anything else xD

Prot buffs, prot buffs and more prot buffs.

4m range more on Lvl 10 Taunt, higher % success on shield strike if it's not maxed, 50% more range on Taunting Cry and 1 more target and AoE Low Blow.

It would be absolutly perfect if taunts were a bit stronger and Rush was in the Defender skill tree.

Yes but really I cannot believe the DEFENDER changes, Ill explain myself:


Vital stab used to be a 10 seconds DoT with 6 seconds recasting time,
General strategy against roughs and branches used to be like this:

-Sin attacks under stealth, soccer kick and stun you
-hopefully you have fillers and keep spiritual intensification
-When you survive this barrage, you use shield strike, vital satb, low blow combo
-Vital stab blocks most kruxena skills they generaly tend to rush away and wait for DoT to remove

10 seconds are not enough to prevent kruxena using super stealth attack often
because after soccer kick and this barrage of attacks you need to:

rebuff again
use regens and heals
be ready to recieve same attack pattern

that takes time so:

-plus 1 DNA extension, it becomes 20 seconds which really helps a lot to give you enough damage to survive this and do all I mention before

BUT NOW
AND CONSIDERING DEFENDER SKILLS ARE IMPORTANT FOR PROTECTORS

New vital stab at level 1 drops to 3 SECONDS and extension 3 SECONDS= 6 Seconds HELL :D
Now you need to rise level 4 BOTH DNA and SKILL to have again 20 seconds
or take it to level 6 at least to buy you time against lightining speed attack kruxena

Now you are vulnerable to roughes more than ever unless you decide spend some skill points

The onlsaught new AoE capability is interesting for protectors since you can take on a lot of monsters and attack all at the same time. But this is useless GvG or Party
Since 90% attacks in these areas are skills and magical blasts (making shield useless)
Also Low blow is now AoE...

I SWEAR REQUIEM IS MORE A SHOTTER RATHER THAN A HORROR GAME
BEING PROTECTOR IS LIKE GOING WAR ARMED WITH A KNIFE WHILE EVERYONE ELSE HAS GUNS
(defilers have blockbusters and nukes)

Shield strike didnt suffered too much and depednding of your point of view is better cause at level 5 is now 80%, Even though that is still unreliable for me.
It droped -2% at level 10 though, and -1% when +1 DNA for 96%


Kruxenas and mage classes tend to be very nimble.
And some times when I avoid sleep and stop I buy time to the trapped people when I see Tempest and Defilers about to cast their spells and I stun them before they can attack.
So you cannot afford to fail your attack or everyone is toasted.
Nevertheless thats more a Commy Job rather than Prot but if no one else is around...


About Taunting Skills do note this:
Do note you can rise even further range when level 10
Also, do note Taunting Cry lost full 10 targets level 1 and you need to level 10 to have full targets again.
And I still think the problem about this skills is MP cost for us, mana hungry prots.
Even using MP recovery items

PROTECTOR STRATEGY REVOLVES A LOT ON DEFENDER SKILLS, AND WHICH SKILLS YOU PICK

The skill grid I posted is useless now, and I know I need to rethink my strategy :D

Protectors didnt need to think much about where im going to put my points, like for example: battle magicians/druid which have like 40 skills and beyond imagination posibilities.

Now things have changed: you need to think carefully where are you going to put your skills points. that makes me think about these:

Everyone thinks of protector as tanking char, and whenever someone try to make other build they say, duh pick commie.

But if you study carefully the defender skill changes, those affect much more prot than commie,
Why? because those skills are still useless in front of moonlight slash and Boomerang Aura

Again: "Are they trying to make prot PvP char Build????"
Cause new changes only excel when you hit high levels and are rather useless when being still level 49 defender. So those skills were thought for prot if you ask me.


So I wonder: "Prot doing other things besides tanking..."

Prot PvP?
Prot Solo PvE?
Prot Solo Normal Boss?
Prot GvG FoC?
Prot Battlefield?

Very different strategies for different escenarios....

Problem with prots on PvP has allways been the same since S2, they cnt reach the targuet to hit them. No rush, no AM, no chain of restrain, so we are reduced to be a punh bag for casters (any mele who goes after us its doing something wrong). Sure, we can be a distraction, interrupt some casts, but not much else.

I recently rise my prot to lvl 84 almost 85 (93% ¬¬ )...besides the lvl, I have a not decent equip yet just seamless +15 + ion con and secretID +15 with full ion HP ... It still fail at st.... never mind... I really like the new range of taunts and low blow 2 targerts at lvl 1 its ok to me but taunts needs more agro I think. and Party heal at lvl 5 costs 1000MP !!!!! not use... DNA of passive block do not appear at char stats... I dont know if its works properly or not. And I think prot need Rush back at defender skill tree... (yeah I know ..sry about my english ¬¬)
