It is going fine. Things are much more clean now in pront. Now if we can organize the vendors that would be awesome

Wait... we have an anit-spam bot? I noticed the bots are unable to spam as much now, although I don't see the red silence bubbles. They kind of just stop spamming soon after I see them on screen. Or is this a client side countermeasure? I'd like to know what method the GMs used. :dunno:

I update my antispam.cfg (or something like that) whenever they come up with a new name.

Oh, I see there is a "nospam.cfg" file and a "nospam.dll" file in our RO's data folder. Interesting. Seems to work nicely!

I love the anti-spam so hard. It makes the game so much more enjoyable when we aren't spammed to hell. <3
I have added 2 phrases to the cfg file when unblocked things came up in town, but compared to right-click muting, it's infinitely easier. Hopefully the GMs can check it now and then and update the file when necessary.

There was a small addition to our clients to keep us from seeing the offensive advertisements. :)

I'd really like to thank the GM team, these sort of things makes it easier to convince new people
to give RO a try.

I don't quite understand though, why not to block just all kinds of "goldcentral" word variations but without paying attention to dots and "org", why "org" is even supposed to be in a filter :dunno:
Also what I didn't like about the filter is that you can see many lines of spam again after losing a spammer from your field of view and then coming back to him. RCX's filter was blocking them without letting any single line to come through.

Edit: oh, I didn't see the .cfg file in a client folder. Can try to play around with it :)

They're trying to keep the list updated so users don't have to, so be aware that your own changes might need to be redone after every patch.

i don't mean to complain. i'm glad GMs bother to do anything at all, but the spambot situation hardly improved. it was nice for a few days but it was only a matter of time until spambots figured out how to get around the filters. at least the situation on yggdrasil is pretty much the same as it was before except they spam a bit slower.

i gladly embrace little improvement over no improvement at all but yet i wonder, is this the often mentioned "gadget" GMs had up their sleeve to make the spampots live a harder life? you know the one that was awaiting approvement of the developers?

please say it isn't.

It is, but be sure to take a screenshot(s) of the spam bots that are bypassing the filter and PM Oda about it. They'll update the filter when they can if you let them know that certain spam bots are bypassing it in some way.

Well, I personally go in and edit my nospam.cfg file. Every time the GMs update the patcher, I wind up getting a bunch of spam again cause they still don't have like, gridgolds and some of the other phrases in there. I finally god fed up and added USD at a value of 3 too, so I don't see ANY spam anymore. I doubt most people bother though. I'm happy to just HAVE the file so I can update it myself though. I don't mind the 5 minutes it takes me to walk around pront, see what the spambots have come up with to get around the filter, and go in and add new phrases. I keep a copy of it in my gravity folder so that I can just paste over the inevitably inferior nospam.cfg that always gets put in with every patch

The spam filter is in your RO directory inside the "data" folder. It only blocks those annoying All Chat ones though.

This is not a troll thread. You must be blind. There is still spam, but it's literally a FRACTION of what there used to be, and if you know how to edit your C:\Program Files\Gravity\Ragnarok Online\Data\nospam.cfg, you could actually remove ALL spam. If you would like to learn how to do this properly, send me a PM and I'll walk you through it.
