Did you actually watch the mechanic video?
I watched the one right on the front page there, he's an utter novelty class in WoE.
Yeah, he kills a few people, but critting someone to death after they've been hit with multiple asuras doesn't really count in my opinion. Neither does cart ramming lone warlocks.
Also he gets OHKO'd by Royal Guards and also that RK if the RK isn't too busy fighting three other people. HE GETS OHKO'D BY ROYAL GUARDS IN WOE.
I really didn't see him do anything productive in the whole video. At least he seems okay at killing barricades and other things that don't fight back.
I believe you missed the point. Completely.
You can focus on the mechanic, but remember to watch what other classes are doing. Yes, the mechanic gets killed by other classes (it's called Woe darling), but he is also beneficial =). Every class has their strengths and weaknesses and of course they will be killed but I think he did pretty well especially with that "AOE death bomb" (tee hee)
The point was that like now everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. You can't judge an entire class from one situation.

strength: none
weakness: all
yup sure has strengths and weaknesses just like everyone else. they're just not fair in comparison to make all game content worth experiencing.

And that's your opinion =)
I feel way differently about renewal. The point of me putting those videos up was to show that Warlocks and Suras are not OP like someone had stated earlier. You all are more than welcome to focus just on the Mechanic in the video although that defeats the purpose. =)
All in all. Renewal will be a great experience. What some see as weakness others see as the best THING EVER!
Mechanics and Genetics , I'm sure, are just happy not to be just Acid Bomb and HSCR anymore!

In the video with the shadow chaser, seems like this guy can not die, and is even MORE incredibly annoying than stalkers were.
If your point is that WoE still appears to play somewhat like it used to with GROUPS of players, I get you, but people are still not happy with skills and cast times and other bad mechanics...
Any video you can point to that seems to be favorable with renewal, I'd think if it was actually set in pre-renewal it would have been just as fun, if not more fun, but without all the stupid drawbacks.

Yeah, it seems in this video that all the mechanic can do is hitlock people with crits. Meanwhile the OTHER classes are one-shotting him and that one char (dunno who it was) seemed to literally take out all the other barriers in one spell after the mechanic was working on the others for 30+ seconds.

That was the RK taking out the barricades. The mechanic was taking out groups of people with that one AOE skill that takes off his "Machine Thingy"

I mean, I'm not really sure what your definition of good is, but was it at all telling that he's the only person in those videos even playing a mechanic?
Like, no, seriously, what does he do that some other class cannot do better?
Suicidal destruction kills people, but so does dragon's breath and asura, and you don't have to relog your char after you use those skills.
"Taking off" the mado is no small matter. To be effective with the mado, you basically have to be ineffective with other stuff, and what the video doesn't show is what he does in between the screen cuts.
He has to run back to Prontera regardless of where he was at and rent a new mado and re-equip any cannon balls he was using (they are removed with the mado).
You sound to me like you've never really played mechanic yet.
It can move around exceptionally well compared to other classes. Front Slide and Back Slide ARE GOOD SKILLS. The problem is that once you get to where you're going, you basically just jihad and return to start.

That's suicidal destruction. You basically have to relog after you use it and it has a very small radius of effect.

lol @ jihad
You whine a lot but that's fine. I didn't want to speak on mechanics specifically....
We all have specific roles in woe...some people just haven't gotten that maybe they aren't "main killers" yet. I'll be playing and testing today.

I do whine a lot, but just watch, I'll be the only one playing mechanic come four months from now.
I enjoyed being a mastersmith even though I only had one function in the game, I'm not quite sure yet how I feel about snapping around the map like a champ casting storm gust and eventually detonating myself like a vani. They're definitely completely unrelated roles though.

The thing is though, I used to be a primary killer, and the fact that my class now has nothing at all to do with that upsets me.

Now you know how alchemists feel going Biochemist.
Alchemist being STR and Biochemist being INT based....
I feel like in more ways than one they addressed Bios and MS.
I always looked at my Bio as battle support when it's really a main killer...
People always are unsure about big changes in the game or CHANGE in general. First it was Trans and now it's Renewal. We will all earn to love it.
PS - Girl, at least you're not just HSCR anymore!

I don't know why, but the way you put that somehow made me want to play the class. It sounds like it [i]could[/i[ be fun outside of the frustration of having to get the mado back, should they be given a damage boost to there skills ontop of that.I'm not quite sure yet how I feel about snapping around the map like a champ casting storm gust and eventually detonating myself like a vani. They're definitely completely unrelated roles though.
Or make there self destruct an unblockable screen-wide skill with no way to defend it that deals 999,999 damage to everything (including guild/party members) and kills the user and only usable in WoE. That would be another fix.

Don't patronize me.
Do you want it in simpler terms?
My class used to be decent at doing one thing: damage.
My class is now good at doing one thing: dying to everyone else's overpowered skills.
Seriously, don't say anything unless you've actually tried it out.
It's a mostly frustrating class to play, there are some parts of it that can be fun at times, but overall, it's not a productive class to play whether it is fun or frustrating.
It would be like going from Alchemist to Biochemist, that's a pretty good comparison, but it's not realistic because they gave biochemists Acid Bomb.
Sure, Self Destruct OHKOs people, but currently, so does a whole bunch of other stuff. Self Destruct isn't even useful for MVPing as far as I can see.

I apologize. Didn't mean to offend.
I'm going to play and get a better feel for the class.

In all serious though they need a gimic that works. Now, if being in a mado gave you flat 70% total damage resistance to everything so they could become a pretty bad-ass tank... at least they'd have a defined role. And considering some of the skills in renewal thats not even that overpowered.

LOL, I do not know what to think. Almost makes me think the whole thing is a TROLL.
Let me let you in on a little secret. All alchemists right now are fully aware of what they can do as bios. And all alchemists look forward to becoming bios. Alchemist can go from being a highly under-used, situational support class, to pure killers who prey on VIT-based chars. Plus they can get killer homunculuses too.
If you want to go str bio and use the same old alchemist skills, that's fine, and you are still probably a notch up from alchemist. If you want to go for pure potter, you are way better off too. So, you have your comparisons completely wrong, just FYI.

You keep on talking about how it is "WoE" and that people should have team work, and that each of the classes have their own roles and how each class has strengths and weaknesses. Okay so let me ask this, is there one role that Mechanics are better for than anyone else? Hell, does the Mechanic even have a role at all? I haven't tried playing a Mechanic yet, but this is what Sera seems to be concerned about.
