I've already sent a ticket last night. Basically the NPC took the stone, I did the test, everything went fine. Until the last step where she congratulates me and turns me hunter. She does the former, but not the latter. So I'm stuck as an archer and all she does is give the same dialogue about "you're a hunter now, congrats!" when I talk to her. When I right-clicked on the quest in the quest list, it disappeared...

i think it has something to do with the changes to magic stones that happened in mait last night the last npc of the monk quest finishes his dialogue and then doesn't turn you into a monk (doesnt take your stone either) tried both trading the stone directly to npc and turning it in eden and no luck with either.

yeah im stuck on the monk job change too. in my case i gave the magic stone at the beginning of the monk quest (the 1st npc near the st. capitolina abbey entrance "Guardian Monk") since he asked for it. i proceeded to finish the quest only the find in the end that i could not change into monk (the final npc dialogue is totally normal). so yeah it has something to do with the stones. even the eden magic stone npc recognizes that im on the list of players who used a stone. sucks cos my rental gears are about to expire and im not done hunting my real gears; cant proceed to level and hunt efficiently as a 2nd job. i sent a ticket too.

I kinda have a similar problem, I'm right at the end of the Job Change Test and I'm stuck so far.

I already have the Necklace of Wisdom but The Hunter Guild Master keeps asking me for 1 Magical Stone from the Eden Group Kafra blah blah.. *head explodes*

I guess all the Hunters I've seen so far they just skipped hunter test with teh stone. teehee~
I hope this gets fixed soon.

The only thing that I've found out so far is that the only way to change to Hunter is by using the sooo called Magical Stone.

It seems there is no actual job quest finished for Hunters....... :hmm:

I've realized that the Warp Portal community love to rely on Kafra Items to solve every problem. I feel I'm wasting my time here, this isn't the game play experience I was looking for. I was hoping to play a descent try of a pre-pre-renewal with no assistance from Kafra Items.

It seems that iRO doesn't work the way I thought it worked. C'mon.. a basic and simple hunter job quest.

I'm thinking seriously in saying au revoir to iRO, even RO, teehee~

Changed my archer to hunter yesterday.
Bought a magical stone box from kafra, opened it, talked to the guy (the dude near the stairs in Eden Group), stone got used.
Went to the hunter guild at pay_fild10 in the middle of the map is a sign between the "trees", talk to it. Took the test, 20 minutes later I got a nice hunter.

And yes, you do need a magical stone to change to 2nd class. VIP will get it refunded after 2 weeks if you bought it from the Kafra Shop.

You cannot job change into a second class without a Magic Stone. It's required. Every second class you see used a stone.

If you can't pay for it yourself, you can buy one with zeny from an in-game merchant, or gain WP from watching videos about mayonnaise in order to purchase it yourself.

All I want to know is why I can't finish the Hunter Quest without using a stone, there must be another way, the oroginal quest perhaps? I already finished the test and also I have the necklace to give it to the Hunter Guild but she keeps asking me for the stone and nothing else.
*sigh*
I guess the so called Hunter Job Quest @ Hugel and previously @ Payon are pure custom mechanics from private servers? Is that what you are trying to say?
The magic stone has been and still is the only official way you an archer to change to hunter (no quest at all)?

You're missing the whole point, sighs, anyways I don't have to argue anything else btw. I'm just clarifying.

you have to get the magic stone, in addition to the quest. hunter guild is like.. 1 east, 1 south, 1 east from payon, it's that sign in the middle of the bamboo field.

No, you're missing the whole point.
A magical stone is required for every 2nd class job change. You still need to do the quest. The current quest for Hunter was the one that was implemented before Hugel was added.
GETTING THERE
=============
Before the TI update, this was the hardest part of changing to Hunter,
sadly enough. Getting to the Hunter guild can actually be rather hard
without an escort. The first 2 maps are easy. First, exit Payon east into
the willow face map. Then, exit east again. Once in that map, exit south
(this is the Edga map for those who know where that is). The field you are
now in is infested with dangerous aggressive monsters including Horong and
Munak. There are also poison spores, but those shouldn't be a problem. Now,
you will see a huge cliff in the middle of the mini map. Go onto the cliff
while avoiding the blue flame creatures named Horong (you won't be able to
hit them past 5 damage and they will do 200~ to you). Once on the cliff, go
down a bit and look for a mass of bamboo trees with a purple haired NPC
named "Hunter" inside them. Talk to him and you will be instantly taken to
the Hunter guild.

PERSONALITY TEST
================
Now, if the Turtle Island update was not implimented yet, the lady at the
front desk in the Hunter guild would instantly change you into a Hunter.
But unfortunately, it is implimented. Talk to the lady at the front desk,
and she will give you a personality quiz like the one you took in the
Training Grounds to decide your class. You CAN fail this, but most people
don't, and the right answers are unkown. Just answer what you think the
game wants to hear. Now here comes the actual quest!

ITEM GATHERING
==============
After the personality quiz, you will be told to goto another NPC.

         |        |
         |   A    |
---------|        |---------
B                          C
---------|        |---------
         |        |
         |        |
         |        |

A = Lady at the front desk
B = Hunter Recep
C = Falcon Dealer

Goto the NPC marked B on the map, and he will tell you to gather items.
These are all of the possible item combonations I have found:

ITEM COMBO 1
------------
9 Yellow Herbs
9 Shells
9 Worm Peelings

ITEM COMBO 2
------------
3 Bill of Birds
4 Skel Bones
5 Green Herbs

ITEM COMBO 3
------------
5 White Herbs
5 Wooden Blocks
5 Claw of Desert Wolf

If you want, you can cheat by using another character to get the items and
then transfering them to your Archer. Now, bring the items back to the NPC.

FINDING THE MASTER HUNTER
=========================
Now, go back to the lady at the front desk. She will send you on your way
to the hardest part of the quest. I hear this is alot like the Assasin
quest. Your quest will be to find the "Master Hunter" at either the central
palace, or Payon Village.

CENTRAL PALACE NPC
------------------
To get to this NPC, go back to Payon and go up the big set of steps in the
middle of the town (where the Mr. Smile NPC is). Go north a bit and then go
west. You will see a portal to a building, go in. Then inside that building
go through the south portal, the Hunter NPC is in that room.

PAYON VILLAGE NPC
-----------------
To get to this NPC, go to the Archer Village and then to the Archer Guild.
In the guild, go through the northeast portal. The Hunter NPC is in that
room.

THE TEST
========
Now, your NPC will explain your test to you (which I have heard is the same
as the Assasin quest), and give you 200 silver arrows before he sends you
off. You will be teleported to a room with a guide and a chatroom. Talk to
the guide for the info on the quest, and enter the chatroom once you're
ready to take the quest. You need to be in the chatroom to even qualify to
take the test, and you cannot leave. Only one person can take the test at a
time, so you can chat with other people when you fail and need to try the
test again <img src='http://forums.warpportal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />. You will be constantly pulled in and out of the chatroom.

What the test actually is, is you get teleported to a room and need to kill
4 different monsters. These monsters are called "Job Change Monster" and
will take the form of a Poring, Zombie, Archer Skeleton, or Mummy. If you
kill anything witn a different name such as "Hunter Change Monster" or "Job
Test Monster", you will be kicked out and have to start over. If you die,
you will also be kicked out and be forced to start over. Once you have
killed all 4 Job Change Monsters, all the monsters will die. You should
also be very carful while walking through the room as there are traps set.
You can tell if a tile is a trap because they look like they have water in
them.

After all the monsters have been killed, go to the center of the map. Talk
to the switch and it will give you some options, choose "escape". You will
now have 3 minutes to exit the map from the opposite side in whuch you came
in. Basically:

(6:00)               (12:00)
e------ -----s------ ----ex

e = entrance
s = switch
ex = exit

Note that there will be traps and water blockers to try and stop you. You
should take it slow since all the monsters are gone anyways, and it will
help you to avoid the traps.

THE CLASS CHANGE
================
Once you're done, talk to the Hunter again and you will recieve a necklace.
Give this necklace to the lady at the front desk, and yay! You're a Hunter!

Enough for me.

I dislike the idea that the some users that pay (real money) for the stone decide the future of the economy of the server by adjusting any price for the stone, from 1m to 1k? Ppl says that atm the stone is being sold for more less 200k-300k, I don't mind that but I wonder if the cost will remain constant until the end of the server. This is how I see it.

It would be better if these Stones were not able to be sold or transferred but only able to be used by its original owner. IMO.

If you're complaining about needing to use magic stones in classic, I wonder if your head would explode if you found out you needed Reset stones to become 3rd class in Renewal.

And as TooLowForZero pointed out, this isn't just some "Custom" quest. Hunter job class has always been in Payon before Hugel was implemented. it's the exact same test as it was years ago.

What are you complaining about?
First you disagree about quests needing magical stone, then you say that stones shouldn't be traded.
