How does pet hunger work?

So I've gotten a new pet Sohee. Was actually wondering how the system for hunger works. Is it based on time or another thing? I don't wanna hang around in town like I always do and just find that my new pet died!
So how does hunger work?

To get bonus to pet loyalty, YOU MUST FEED the pet at NEUTRAL. If you feed at HUNGRY OR VERY HUNGRY, it will not get any loyalty points (No loyalty point at hungry and lose loyalty points when feeding at very hungry).
Logging off freezes hunger time, so you don't need to worry about pets leaving you when you're not online.

Time based. Some pets get hungrier faster than usual. Sohee's hunger is rather slow, so I estimate it's around 15 minutes until she hits "Neutral" Satiation. Pets like Bacsojin or Shinobi get neutral satiation at 4-5 minutes, so you must be attentive with those pets.

Actually, you can feed your pet in Hungry state (not in Very Hungry), it even gives more intimacy than feeding it at neutral. But for the sake of making intimacy, you have to feed it in Neutral state because the time taken between Neutral and Hungry is double than the time taken from Stuffed to Neutral.
And under my few experiences, most of my pets (if not all of them) take around 5 minutes for Stuffed > Neutral (10 minutes if Neutral > Hungry). The only one I've had that takes very long to get hungry is the Rocker pet (Stuffed > Neutral = 15 minutes).
So in my opinion, if making intimacy feed it in Neutral, otherwise feed it in Hungry. Be aware of its hunger.

Feeding it at Neutral is MUCH safer and faster because going from Hungry to VERY Hungry takes much shorter time than Stuffed>Neutral.
@Boing: Yes. You should see the Imp pet. It takes like 20-25 mins getting from Stuffed to Neutral. while the Bacsojin takes like less thna 5 mins.

It is indeed safe, since Hungry > VeryHungry takes around same time (somewhat less) than Stuffed > Satisfied. But what if your pet is Loyal already?
And I'm always aware of that because... either the pet speeches (they vary according the hunger state) or I always leave the pet window open.

example
1 - neutral
2 - hungry
3 - hungry - feed - Stuffed
4 - stuffed
.
.
599 - neutral
600 - neutral
601 - Hungry
Awkward- Less than 100 - Ready to abandon its owner
Shy- 100–249 - Uses unhappy emotes such as /pif and /wah
Neutral - 250–749 - Uses friendly emotes such as /no1 and /ok
Cordial - 750–909 - Uses affectionate emotes such as /lv and /kis
Loyal - 910–1000 - Talks often and uses affectionate emotes
- Only feed it when its hunger is at Hungry
- A pet is given a random number of intimacy points between 250–399 when it's first hatched
- The higher level the pet is, the less intimacy it will begin with
- Higher level pets get less intimacy per feeding (porings get intimate VERY QUICKLY, white lady... not so much.. )
- Your pet will then make an emote, letting you know it has eaten. It should give you the /ok emote. If you continue to feed it, it will give the /hmm or /pif emote. Feed it again and it will use the /omg emote and die.
- A pet’s intimacy decreases by 15 points when its owner dies. Intimacy doesn't decrease when a pet is returned to its egg.

I see it, but I don't agree; it's bad advice, I think; too easy for you to miss it and have the pet slip into "Very Hungry." Feed at neutral.
For raising intimacy, feeding at neutral yields much faster loyal pet.
Pet food isn't that expensive and the pets who get hungry really fast have very cheap food anyway.....

Hell, the weakening the monster via pokemon mechanics to tame monsters is STILL a big issue.
(not a complaint, just an observation).

- If my pet's intimacy is below Loyal, feed it when hunger is Neutral. This is because the time taken for Stuffed > Hungry is triple long than Stuffed > Neutral, and intimacy gained from feeding it in Hungry is not triple at all. I don't think it's even double.
- If my pet's intimacy is Loyal, feed it when hunger is Hungry. Again, this is because the time taken between the hunger states, feeding it in Hungry helps me to save food, and I don't need to keep raising the intimacy urgently.
If my pets were ever reached to VeryHungry state, it's because of my carelessness than anything else. Though some speeches are rather hilarious (Poporing: "Thank you, I kept thinking I was lime Jell-O")

Interesting, I've always thought otherwise. Because supposedly, the time delay for hunger decrease is the same for all pets, but the intimacy gained per feeding is different.Feeding it at Neutral is MUCH safer and faster because going from Hungry to VERY Hungry takes much shorter time than Stuffed>Neutral.

That just goes to show how pserver db's are can be very wrong.

wrong
I have a White Lady/Bacsojin Pet
when i have her out i have a desktop Timer that goes off at set intervals and its very accurate
Cute Pets and Homunculus have identical hunger
the only difference is the UI
Cute pets get Stuffed/neutral/hungry/etc while Homunculus get a number from 1-100
but the rate is the same 25 hunger = Hungry

and i'm pretty sure it took my poring pet ~25 min to get from stuffed --> hungry

- Stuffed (100 ~ 91)
- Satisfied (90 ~ 75)
- Neutral (74 ~ 25)
- Hungry (24 ~ 15) *hmm*
- Very Hungry (14 ~ 0) *hmm*
Sadly, I still don't know how fast the "hunger" decreases per minute, which depends on the pet itself.
