Did classic kill Ymir?

I stopped playing because I don't have time to get the items required to play competitively, but the game might still be fun in small doses. But now I'm not even sure.... How is Ymir since the population drop? Is it still fun to play on?

If you can solo TI maps, it's great having an entire personal map to yourself with upped spawns.
If you want to solo MVPs, pretty much every single one is always out, with a few exceptions.
Basically, if you want a single player game, Ymir is the place to be.

I'd say check back every month or two, and see if it's happened or not, if you still care to play again in the future lol.
Or you could take the "severely discounted" transfer from Ymir to Ygg/Valk in the meantime (again, sometime in the "near" future. still hasn't been implemented yet) if you wanted to play on a non dead server until a merge happens.

If you hate bots more than you like people, Ymir should still be just fine lol.
The paywall on Ymir kept out not only bots, but new players as well, which is probably the biggest reason why pretty much everyone either moved off Ymir or just quit entirely (who didn't want to start over on a new server).
Bots are something that you'd have to live with no matter where the merge goes though.

There's a high chance I'm gonna move on to GW2 if merge doesn't happen in 3 weeks. :S

If you own a console I would suggest buying borderlands 2

The "plan" is with Ygg, but most people on both Ymir and Ygg prefer either Valk+Ymir, or merging all 3.
Isn't that because Ygg is more new, and Ymir players will completely over-power Ygg players equipment/economy-wise? lol
Maybe I'll be too busy with my app development anyway. But listening to RO music at work/while researching iOS development is tempting me to play...

Classic didn't start the fire. It was more like the gasoline.

Merge will definitely not happen within 3 weeks. Would be best to just play GW2, and check back in like a month or two, or read the patch notes every week to see if anything happens. No point in getting our hopes up for anything to happen soon at this point though.

Actually there are bots creeping into Ymir now, too. They made it free to make characters, and zeny spammers are always in Pront now. Wouldn't surprise me if Ymir looked exactly like Valk in terms of bots by Halloween.
If the botters fudge the server population stats enough, real players might be lulled into thinking the server is populated

Might've been (and the trouble wasn't THAT bad, but it was notably decreased pre-Classic), but it was more salvageable than it has been for the last 3 months.Ymir was in a LOT of trouble before classic. Classic was the final straw maybe

seriously guys.. give it a rest.. at least for a week.. simplest of answers
[Ymir is experiencing Population trouble. Short Term: steps by GM's to make things easier for the server. Long Term: Merging Ymir and another server, details of which are being worked on. Only the GM's know what will happen, Speculation here will benefit NO-ONE /thread ]

If anything, the fault as in renewal being boring to play.
( I've met more people who returned to ragnarok from pre-renewal times versus people who moved from Ymir. )
