but devs also know it so no worries
it doesn't mean that delivered model will be used in its exact/original form - it can be used as a base to make a low poly version
same sa concepts / drawings won't be used as exact textures but as base for final ones
it is just easier for some to make higher poly models than making low poly with detailed painted textures

I think it's a wing... I just started to mess around in Paint and this is what I got as a result... I'm not sure if I should finish it.
Version 1
Version 2... It turned out to be a backshield.
Version 3 with colors.
Version 4 with colors & stuff.
Type: Backshield
Level: 200+
Stats: HP & Def, probably...
Name: Orlean Hero's Mighty Backshield
Description:
A mighty shield worn by the greatest heroes of the Orlean wastelands. Represents the killer of gods who is said to have killed the god Oro and many other gods. The creature was not seen in the past 4000 years.

Following on from the Persian Mask Idea.. my idea is a matching cape with same texture and colour, maybe a little on the darker and less transparent side
mini-cape for female, and full body cape for male. Not very good at drawing the flowery edges on the bottom >_< or drawing at all for that matter
so here's my limited colouring efforts with microsoft paint ): but you get the conceptual idea of what is part of the backitem.
(see the top left corner? the pattern on the top of the mask, my cape would have that pattern on the edges x_x but yeah.. not sure how to add something that detailed in my pic with just my pencil and camera ):
here's the black and white sketch I did, if anyone with coloring skills could do something.. much appreciated =p

this picture shows weird movement/position when it was used as backitem:
this picture shows placement of backitem bone (center of movement and rotation)
as you can see - if your backitem is placed too low it just won't work
long ago someone suggested animal tails as back items but those were also "rejected" because of current Rose game engine limitations

Yea, tails would've been cute...but will prolly only work as a complete outfit-type of extension. Same with the capes (which is how they are currently placed in the Wicked Robes and the Orlean Robes)
But if you wanted to see the tails, here they are: Creative Creations section in Old Forums
There are actually a lot of pretty cool items that ppl sketched out from back then, too.
I don't know anything about how this works but is it possibly to make items transparent? if so, then if one wanted to design a tail for example, he/she would do so by making a backitem that is all transparent until the tail part itself?

Alpha channeling I'd say. Though I'm not sure if ROSE handles the alpha channels on textures as glossiness instead of opacity.

haha okay then if so, it should be no problem to make tails etc. like if u were to make tail using something like raptor backshield, make the backshield part 100% transparent except for the tail sticking out ;p

and with the transparent stuff i think that's what they did with orlean backshield? because in some angles you can see the glitchy square outline, not sure if its still like that

transparency wouldn't solve problems with tail movement as they would be attached way too high so their movement would be weird
as for textures and alpha channels - there is a flag in another file that says if alpha channel in texture is used to control opacity/transparency OR reflections
so for example if you have lets say transparent wings with feathers and some metal part, let's say some golden thing it would need 2 separate models with 2 separate textures
one would use alpha to cut out feathers while another one would be used to get shiny effect on metal parts
most wings are using alpha for transparency but for example Devil wings (big purple ones) are using alpha for reflections - that's why they look shiny

was watching the yugioh the abridged series a few days ago, going with the whole psuedo-egyptian look seemed cool cuz orlos supposed to be like that

I just decided to take a look on the ROSE forums again after a year or so and then you punch me in the face with a creative event! How fun! Although I'm far too busy with work, university college and my own consulting agency at weekends to create anything new for this I'll submit the two I sketched for the old forum (http://forums.roseon...osts=18&start=1 , http://forums.roseon...osts=24&start=1) like a year and a half ago. xD Doesn't stand a chance against the competition, but I still wanted to throw them out there instead of having them rot on a dead board. x)
