Only thing I can think of is - on some systems RO lags for 10-30 mins after starting the client, and then starts behaving better. Could this be applicable?
Also what kind of lag is it? Does the mouse lag too?

I don't think that's a client warm up problem since the occurrence timing is really random. That's a really bizzaro problem, no clue.

The mouse does not lag, it's like a response kind of lag.
Clicking on ground for moving, using item, and using skill have huge delays.
Could it be some kind of problem with the data on character server?

The lag on my main have been staying for a whole day today(usually it goes away after 20~30min), and the response delays is becoming worse.
Yet my other characters do not have any connection problem at all...
I need an urgent help from GMs and hope they can check the status of my account data...

By the way, what is the class of the affected character?

Have you tried using the trial of Lowerping or WTFast? These work wonders for network lag, and if they work, it's definitive proof that the problem is poor route from your ISP to gravity.

My main is a warlock, but the lag starts as soon as I logged in with my main so I guess the play style won't matter.
Repeating re-logging did not solve the problem.
Lasts the shortest around 10min, and the longest around multiple hours...
Haven't found a pattern of the ending timing.
Do you guys agree that this is a server issue and not my problem?

Do you use fraps or similar, that you could video the type of lag you're experiencing (I don't think replay will work)? It's hard for me to explain how to look at lag and assess what sort of lag it is, but different kinds of lag "look" different...

Thanks for your precious opinion, Dr.No, I do not agree with that statement - I have never in 8 years of playing RO heard of this sort of behavior, and nobody else is reporting the same behavior. You're connecting to the same char server (though a slow char server won't produce lag except while loading a char or changing maps) and same map servers, but for some reason you're experiencing lag on one character only. I don't think we can rule anything out or in at this point. This is a really bizarre issue.

I'll try to record if it happens again, but i hope it won't...

Yes I did.Can you test whether the problem occurs while playing on a different computer?
The lag issue remains even after I switched computer.

I unintentionally got rid of the lag for the last two consecutive occurrence by using the Light of El Dicastes returning skill.
Just two times of testing still can be a coincidence, so I will try this method for the next occurrence to test if this is the solution.
Seems like changing map server is the key?

After the merge, I thought the problem was gone but it has came back to me...If map server changes fix it, relogging should as well.
The lag is very bad that it disconnects my main when I'm just logged in and doing nothing. There have to be something that wrong with the character data...or I cannot think of anything else will cause this kind of weird situatio

So I tried leaving the guild while the lag situation is lasting and after a relog the problem was fixed...
Then I asked my guild-mate to invite me back to the guild, after a relog the lag comes back.
Repeated the above two steps, resulting in same outcome.
Any possible explanation to this?

If there is a separate connection the situation is at least , though it would still not make sense that only you had the problem, nor would it be consistent with the observed fact that the client can play just fine with the chat server down out ten minutes behind reality. Maybe this is some odd behavior client side where data from the game server is getting held up waiting for a lagging chat server? I dunno, this is all speculation. Very weird.
Does it happen in all guilds?

yes, i've tried reinstalling, deleting shortcut and option save data, etc all kinds of suspicious character depending settings but could not solve the issue.Just a thought, have you tried downloading the latest game client and reinstalling RO?

i have tried with only one guild yet. kinda tired of testing for this lag thing so will do that sometime eventually. gonna summerize the facts i observed and add some info to my ticket, hope they'll find out what on earth is wrong with my main...That is very strange. I don't know if the game client makes a separate connection to the chat server (Or whatever we call the server that does guild, party, pm, etc), or if that data is relayed by the game server.

Did you find a solution for this?

Please do not necro ancient tech support threads - when the thread is so old, the information in it is no longer accurate, and is often misleading, and makes solving the problem harder.
Please start a new thread describing exactly the problem you are experiencing.
