[Solution] Patch Fail error [Updated May 21th update]

The solution for this is pretty simple.

Note: this guide shows how to do the process, at the bottom you will find the latest version of the patches needed for this guide to work (This guide corresponds to the updates up to May 15th, if you scroll down you will find the latest files, you have to update EVERY SINGLE RPT that you don't see in your folder but see in this guide, any question about it just let me know :D)

Step 1:
In your explorer (I used Google Chrome) paste this:

64.94.115.11/Patch/Global/Client/Patch/00000017.RTP

and

64.94.115.11/Patch/Global/Client/Patch/00000018.RTP

This will download a file each.

Step 2:
Now go to the patches folder and paste these files you downloaded in it.

By default, the patches folder is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Gravity\Ragnarok Online 2\Patches

Step 3:
Go to the game root folder and look for a file called Version (Is a DAT file) open it with notepad (If you don't know how to do this: right click the file, press Open with... instead of Open and select notepad).

You will find that inside it says something like this (It could say 17, also, the work around is the same):

UserGameVersion=00000016;
UserPatchVersion=00000016;

Change it into:

UserGameVersion=00000018;
UserPatchVersion=00000018;

Save the file.

Step 4:
Launch the game and have fun :)

May 21th Update

If your client is up to date besides the patch that was released last night, you will need to do this process again with just one file, the link for it is the following:

64.94.115.11/Patch/Global/Client/Patch/00000019.RTP

On the Version.DAT instead of changing it to what the guide shows now should be:

UserGameVersion=00000019;
UserPatchVersion=00000019;

I did everything you said, it updates, but when i start the game, there is a error called "Failed - PreActorImgLoader" and there are no menus on the game, just music and the start screen. any idea on how can i solve this? it has been 5 hours i'm trying to play this game! >:(

Thanks for sharing this Ryogure. I tried you method and it got past the previous error, but now when I click "play" and hackshield finishes loading, the game doesn't pop up. Any tips? Thanks in advance.

From what it sounds, this is a fresh installation of the game, right? In that case, you will need to get every single RTP you see in the screen and not just 17 & 18, which are the latest. You can do this by changing the number on the download links I gave by those of the RTP you are missing. Tell me if that helped.

This is related directly to hackshield crashing your game or not loading properly. The only thing I can do for you is upload my HShield and share it with you, so you can replace it.

From what it sounds, this is a fresh installation of the game, right? In that case, you will need to get every single RTP you see in the screen and not just 17 & 18, which are the latest. Have the same problem and adding all RTP doesn't fix it.

Go ahead, feel free to do it, link this post aswell so that way I can help people (I rather not multi-reply on the official one).
Also, really glad it helped.

Have the same problem and adding all RTP doesn't fix it.


Are you installing the client from the webpage? Are you using steam? Were you ever able to run this game before?

Here you go.


This error seems to be related to your client being the proper version, but not being able to connect to the server for it (Means that basically, the HShield updater is not able to connect to its server). I'm guessing this time, since sadly I don't have any knowledge base or tools to check such things (Since pretty much, only warpportal is able to check those things).

Try the following:
-In your searchbar on the start of windows 7, type CMD (A black window console will pop-up)
-write ipconfig /flushdns press enter and try to run the game again.

If that doesn't work [BEWARE: you may lose some minor internet configurations and your internet will disconnect for a few seconds)

-In your searchbar on the start of windows 7, type CMD (A black window console will pop-up)
-write ipconfig /flushdns
-write ipconfig /renew
-Try to run the game.

If that doesn't work is either your firewall, router or any tool/software you have installed that may be causing it. May I know which antivirus/antispyware do you use?

Also, this may be a long shot but may be a warpportal related issue were the nodes for the Hackshield aren't refreshed properly and some people aren't able to connect. Usually if they don't force renew their caches it takes a day or two to auto-solve.

That's basically a critical error that is not poping up, were you able to run the game before this patch?

Well, that didn't work. The anti-virus I'm using is AVG and I have RO2 in my exceptions, so I'm not entirely sure.

Kinda out of ideas, you may want to check windows defender aswell and add it to exceptions. Besides that, if is not something on your system blocking it, is an issue on the side of warpportal HS update servers, sadly.

I see. Is this a direct launch or steam launch? It would be easier for me to identify the issue if you send me a dxdiag.

You can get a dxdiag of your pc if you go to the windows start and on the search bar type dxdiag a window will pop showing data of the hardware of your pc and its drivers. On bottom right you will find a button to save this info into txt format, if you can send that data to me (Copy the txt text to me by pm) I can analize your problem in-depth.

help me, everything works fine but it doesn't start up. windows says it has stopped working.. either to close program or check for solutions online. its an appcrash, I've tried everything... I'm running from steam, I was able to run before. I don't know what happened after patch release...

First, I would try a "normal" install of the desktop client to identify if it is related to the steam client or the game itself :)
