I'm kind of new here with the whol Knight Tank thing and I have looked through the forums and found a couple suggestions, but they seem to differ greatly fom each other or are more for hybrid or DPS, but I want a pure Knight build. COuld anyone suggest both a skill build and what stats I need for a good tank Knight for a new night? Please and thank you.

This is the bare minimum for tank  What you put your skill points into after that is your choice.

-You can switch agi with vit, or go with 40/40/8, or 32/32/31 or whatever you want.  Vit gives a minor boost in hp that i personally find kinda pointless, especially when gear and cards give more.
-Battle Tactics gives a nice boost to your critical hit damage even if you don't have hundreds of Int, and it's only two points, so that's something to consider.

-Concentration gives a modest boost to your overall damage and you can keep it on infinitely for 5% more damage recieved.  Outside of dungeons it's useful.
-Shield Boomerang is more of a PvP skill, so if you decide to PvP you might wanna consider maxing it and shield mastery.
-Shield cannon is debatable.  i think it depends on what you plan to do with your knight and what you want out of it.

-Aura Heal might be changed in the future, if the shadow form re-skin is a sign of the developers listening to the community(Great job on it btw) so even though it's useless now i'm keeping an eye on it.

If you want to know why you only see hybrid/dps builds for knight, i think this guy said it best.

-You dont lose anything by being hybrid. You tank just as good. You have the same defensive stats as the "pure tanks". You are just more versatile

Play around with your skills, read their descriptions, use them and don't be shy to mess up your build trying different things out. You can always get another reset... (proven you have the zenny/KP). The most important thing about mastering the Knight Class is feeling like you can fit in all your roles (threat keeper, main-tank keeping the boss busy, off-tank keeping adds busy or even DPS if required) without struggling as much. While most of these tasks are achieved by wearing good gear... The intrincacies can be tackled from the "Which skill do I use" point of view...

I, for an example... use Magnum Break Lv1 to quickly aggro three mobs, even if there's more than 3 mobs to tank...

  • Having 3 mobs aggro you instantly poses less risk for the raid, in addition to:
  • Keeping the ability to move to the center of the group so you can comfortably aggro all the remaining mobs by using Grand Cross.

I even alternate Lv3 GC and Lv1 MB just for the extra threat, the graphics for GC can graphically lag some of your partners if you're next to them, so... if you like being kind to your fellow raiders, keep your GC usage to a minimum and compliment it with Lv1 MB, which fits in perfectly for 3 or less mobs. This is specially useful when Wide Provoke is on CD.

Know that the right usage of Shield Fortress can help you prevent casualities and even wipes. And the right usage of Shield Aura can avoid getting you killed in crucial moments. Every little addition to your defense or HP helps your fellow healers keep you alive more easily, while every addition to your damage helps you Aggro mobs quicker...
