Seriously WTF

I used 4 tames for imp today and this is what happened.

Overall in trying to catch an Imp I must've used around 10-20 but damn it just took so much effort to get their HP less than 10(Which I heard from someone works) and then that **** happens this is harder than upgrading a KvM to +10 wtf are the rates like less than 10%

to those who has gotten an Imp egg or any of those rare pets/GMs are the rates to tame one really just this bad or am I just so frikin unlucky?

I got a evil nymph egg on my 1st try and Medusa on the 3rd one, You are just unlucky lol

OMG I can't believe it I've talked to someone before and they said they got their imp in less than 10 tries and I guess you guys are just confirming it WTF!!! any tips btw?

Paralyzing(stunning) it or making it sleep also helps.

I heard that complaining while simultaneously taming in game helps.

From my experience there is no difference in success rate when taming pets.  Just like opening boxes or trying to refine at certain times of the week makes no difference in your success rate.  I call pseudomechanics.

I have no luck in taming either. 15 Sohee tames and not one wanted to be my pet. Same with imp, evil nymph, alice, etc :<

Well based on my experience with refining I get to +9 or +7 easier if I wait a couple of seconds after every refine before I refine again this of course doesn't work all the time but I figured its better than just spamming enter when refining.

Dr. Tame here. I've tamed a lot of pets in my day.

Four tries? That's not uncommon at all, as the higher level monsters seem to be harder to tame.

But there is a lot of luck involved as well. I tamed an alice and a succubus both on the first try, but then I went through another 30 or so tames without getting even one more egg.

From my experiments, I have decided that yes, attacking the monster until it they are almost dead definitely helps. It also seems to work better if you are using a character with a lot of flee, which is why I always use a sinx nowadays. Maybe if the monster hits you it lowers your chances? I'm not sure, but high flee works better imo.

If anyone is interested in practicing I have quite a few tames available. Dokebi, Orc, petite, rocker, yoyo, sohee, bongun, deveruchi... ect ect ect

If this is true, then I must just be REALLY lucky on my 1 AGI genetic then, unless you're talking about Classic and the taming mechanics are different from Renewal somehow   

Or I was really unlucky on my 120 Agi RK when taming Green Maidens. Only 20/150 tames.

Got my Loli Ruri in 15 tames, so i think is quite normal not getting one after 4

Those 4 tames were just the ones I screenshotted because I spent 10-15 tames already and those tames are hard to find since no one goes out into the real ragnarok maps anymore and just waits for TIs. But I guess I have no other choice but to just keep going until I get one its not like I can buy an imp egg from anyone for a cheap price.

Just tried to catch a bunch of random pets used about 20+ tames and all failed something is seriously wrong with my characters.

I just thought about it but I'm using a really old patcher of RO that I pinned in my taskbar it never changed it's still the old patcher with three buttons it updates but I guess some stuff updates and some don't and maybe that's why I can't catch any pets after using 30+ tames.

I have used near 100 tames before catching anything. *shrugs*

Don't you think that's a problem. In all my years or RO I've just never had this problem before, using up so much tames before I can get a pet that's why I'm posting about it because maybe there's a problem

I am not sure what level of pet Imp is, but its probably at least lvl 4. Which is 10% chance to tame per pet I believe. Failing that 4 times is not only reasonable, but so would failing it 5 or more times. I am not sure what is "WTF" about that. It might even be a level 5 or 6 pet, which have 5% and 2% taming chances, respectively.

Edit: I believe the rates on this site are correct, even though its not for an official RO. Imp is 2% chance.
